News Star Trek Voyager Documentary

Has Joe Menosky ever done on-camera interviews? I never got the Voyager DVDs but I don't recall seeing him on the TNG Blu-rays. He's quite the elusive figure.

An update from Star Trek Las Vegas:
https://twitter.com/TrekCore/status/1688329409571549184?t=p0yvF24nmsKIbEXi7ptiew&s=19

  • Goal is a release in the first half of 2024, assuming no unexpected issues.
  • Producer Lolita Fatjo confirms that it's "just not possible" to interview Jennifer Lien (Kes), and #StarTrek writer Joe Menosky declined to participate in interviews.
I'm disappointed with no Jennifer Lien interview although not surprised.

I would have been shocked if they'd gotten Jennifer Lien.

I can understand why they couldn't get Lien, but I hope one day, maybe 5 years from now, Lien is still with us to the point where she would want to do an interview and just maybe a self reflective tell all book or something. She really has become one of the more tragic figures in the Trek world.

Hopefully Lien is still represented by existing interview footage, as Avery Brooks was for What We Left Behind. Even if it's just a tiny little bit. :)

I think it will be. I also remember asking Wang at a Las Vegas convention a few years ago if the Jennifer Lien situation would be brought up and he said yes. Maybe they don't get any interviews from her, but I'm sure Mulgrew and other members of the cast will weigh in on that situation, maybe even Garrett himself.

I doubt Lien would care to respond and participate in anything related to her involvement with the show. Obviously, that's just a supposition, but I feel there's little, if anything, related to her existence as a creative person she's likely to perceive as having been a positive marker in her life.

Last update was in August so a bit better than the last 4 month gap! Here's the latest.

Update #36 from The Star Trek Voyager Documentary

Update: A Taste of What's to Come
Hello Voyager fans!

4K Remaster
Below is a still of a work-in-progress of our 4K remaster of the iconic scene of Voyager crashing onto the ice planet in the episode "Timeless." We truly hope and believe that you will LOVE the finished remaster.

Update
Here's a quick update on the progress of the documentary. We are still hard at work in post-prodution and editorial of the film, and are still looking at a completed product this coming Spring!
A couple images of our editors, working on the film, below:

Timeless is probably my favourite episode of VOY, so seeing that moment in its finest quality will be something else.

Is it Spring yet?

Not trying to stir any pots here, but from what I've heard Manu Intirayami wasn't asked to contribute to the documentary. Not sure whether that's a big deal to anyone, though it seems like a notable omission to me.

There's the obvious theory as to why that might have been, but I don't really want to start picking at that right now, in part because I just got home from a convention.

Manu's life choices and opinions don't align with the producer's of this documentary and who they perceive are their intended audience's. So they didn't reach out to him. From the few news articles I've read over the last couple of years Manu is not exactly popular with the current Trek powers that be.

If you've had the opportunity to listen to/watch his livecast, you'll understand more of why they seemed to have shut him out. It's like opening a bag of granola.

Not really much of a VOY documentary update... but here it is nonetheless.

We are continuing to edit the film at breakneck speed, and still hope to announce dates in the late Spring for backer screenings in the late Summer. The documentary is looking fantastic. As always, we will continue to update you throughout the process.

And even more importantly, now that the industry strikes are over, we have been cleared to bring some of the Voyager cast back to film some footage at legendary Paramount Studios, where the original Star Trek began in 1966, and where all seven seasons of Star Trek Voyager were shot.

I just got an email talking about another update and they have pushed the release of this thing back to late summer now. I think this is the last time I donate to this company for a documentary. Now that What We Left Behind is on Streaming if they ever want to do an Enterprise one, I might wait until it gets onto streaming maybe 3 years after it's released. This really should piss people off. I'm a bit angry about it.

This better be the best documentary ever. Hell, I think the only way it's worth it is if it wins the Best Documentary Oscar at the Academy Awards. Good luck with that.

may i ask why an interview with jennifer lien is impossible?
did she say she didn't want to?
or was she not asked?

it goes without saying that if she is interviewed she will be asked about the rumors why her contract was terminated.
jennifer can of course take a position on this, or say that she doesn't want to talk about the subject and that's it.

but she can certainly say a lot about the filming etc.
it's a real shame that there's no interview with her.

I'm not sure you're going to get any more hard information. If they didn't tell us why it's "not possible", then all we'll ever know is that that's what they told us.

Pretty much. As unfortunate as that is. Lien was a big part of early VOY and I'm hoping they don't ignore her or gloss over the matter. I didn't donate money to only get a fluff piece.

Same, and that's my biggest concern regarding this one. While WWLB wasn't perfect, it was pretty damn good IMO, and I want something here that lives up to that level.
