Update #32 from The Star Trek Voyager Documentary

Voyager Documentary Producers Will Be Doing a Live Update

Hello!
First of all, we'd like to thank you once again for your incredible support and all of the positivity surrounding this enormous effort. Together, we are giving Voyager the comprehensive and in-depth documentary that the show and its fans truly deserve.

Live Update
We will be doing a live Voyager Documentary Update Panel on the final day of Virtual Trek Con 4, this Monday, 2/20, at 2:15pm PT / 5:15pm ET. We've got a lot tell you!
Click HERE to watch and be a part of the live discussion.

Thanks so much for your continued support, and have a fantastic weekend!

Every now and again I remember this thing. Maybe it'll be released this year!

At least I have my awesome Janeway coffee mug and Leola Root fridge magnet.

I'll keep posting the reminders because if I don't I'll probably forget as well!

I give TPTB credit, they followed through with the perks! Although I must say the quality of the mug disappointed me. It definitely would not have survived a Year of Hell. ;)

Update #33 from The Star Trek Voyager Documentary

Big Announcement and Update on Digital Perks

Hello fellow Voyager fans!

About a week and a half ago we returned back home from the big Star Trek Cruise, and we've got some great news on that front!

ANNOUNCEMENT
We are thrilled to announce that PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRPAHY IS COMPLETE!

We just had a couple final things to shoot on the Cruise before we could official;y close the book on Principal Photography. Specifically, we we wanted to get an interview with Mr. Ethan Phillips. We had already interviewed him with Robert Picardo, but really felt strongly that the fans--and the documentary's storyline--needed his unique perspective, in an individual capacity, to really get the whole picture. We'll be sharing pictures via FACEBOOK and TWITTER.

An enormous special thanks to the good people at ECP and their Star Trek Cruise for being absolutely incredible throughout this entire process. Please be aware of how much they helped this documentary get done.

And a huge thank you to all of you for your support, patience, and positivity. This is a gargantuan effort that was shot throughout a pandemic, but it is one that Voyager and its fans deserve, and we are confident you will be very proud of the final product.

POSTPRODUCTION AND COMPLETION
Beyond that, we are already well into editorial and postproduction, as we've been working on that end of things over the past year.

The plan is for the film to be completed in early/Spring of next year.

Once the film is near completion, we will be able to lock in the premiere dates and exact locations and will be sure you update all of you with that information with plenty of time to make travel plans -- for those of you planning to attend.

DIGITAL PERKS
All physical perks (except the DVD/bluray combo pack, which will be sent out once the film is completed) were sent out last Summer, and we are now moving on to digital perks. These will be sent out to those of you that donated for them in the coming days and weeks, so please keep an eye out for them!

A more longform video update from a few weeks ago is viewable HERE.

All updates are being forwarded to your email address that is connected to your Indiegogo account. If you miss them, you can always check on the updates anytime at this link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-star-trek-voyager-documentary/x/25745859#/updates/all

We will be updating you more shortly.

Thanks again, for everything, and we'll see you soon!

I am curious. For those who didn't get the chance to get tickets to the Voyager Doc premiere, would there be a second chance to get tickets, or is that it? Once they are gone, then they are gone?

I just remembered this! I must remember to update my address details in order to eventually receive the BD/DVD. I can't be the only one who's moved house in the years since first contributing to the crowd fund.

It was about two years I think. That's from Kickstarter to release, I believe they filmed stuff much earlier than that.

I personally feel like the pace for release has been a bit slow. We're pushing two and a half years now. However, I'm confident they'll deliver based on their level of communication with the updates. They also seem to be following through on all of the perks that were promised. We're not to Axanar level delay tactics.

Last update was April 1! Here's the latest.

Update #35 from The Star Trek Voyager Documentary

Hello Voyager fans!!

Here's an update to keep you all abreast of the progress.

The 57-Year Mission (STLV)
We will be at STLV this week, and we hope to see you there.
1. We will have a table in the Vendors Room. Come by and say hi!
2. We have a Documentary Filmmaking Workshop on Friday afternoon and a panel on Sunday afternoon!
For more information on our appearances, go HERE.

Post-production
We are still deep into postproduction and the editorial phase. We've also hired an additional editor to speed up the process.
As mentioned many times before, we are so very happy with all of the interviews and cannot wait for you to see the completed product!

Script PDFs
We've sent out more digital perks -- PDF scripts of "Caretaker" 1&2 and "Endgame" 1&2! So if you donated at the $25 level or higher, they should have arrived in your email inboxes (the email addresses that are attached to your Indiegogo account) a couple days ago from backerkit.

Thanks again for your support!

We will continue to keep you updated.

I appreciated the new update but I’ve been feeling like this documentary has been a bit of a scam. The pace they are moving is too slow, especially when they estimated the thing would be done last October. I get there are road blocks but they needed to be much more communicative on the progress. You also shouldn’t need to go on cruises or conventions for more updates. This thing should be done and released by now.

I don't believe it's a scam, but I would like a reasonable sense of when we might expect to receive the finished film.

I don’t think it is either but it feels like one. (Axanar and that time where it seemed like every trek group was asking for money was a scam) I just want more communication. There should have been a monthly email sent out. Even if there wasn’t many updates, at least it shows communication with the people who donated so they could do what they do. To go months without an update and then say join us on the cruise and not summerize what was said on the cruise just doesn’t sit well with me.

I don’t think it’s a scam, they have a good track record. But it may be that costs have increased and they’re running out of money.

I don't think a monthly update is unreasonable. As tomalak301 said it keeps the communication channel open at least, even if there isn't much to say, since the film is taking longer than expected to release. Four months since the last update is a little long.

I concur. Even saying there's nothing to say is better than saying nothing at all. I feel this way about all crowdsourced projects...but if I recall correctly the DS9 Doc was kind of the same way, so I'm not really surprised in this case.
