Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Is Treating Season 2 As If It Will Be Their Last

Why not just link to the original source and actual interview instead of this wraparound article?

Seems SlashFilm is making an assumption and grossly portraying what Meyers actually said.

From the interview:
When do you expect to get the season 3 pickup?

I mean, any day now, you know. [laughs]

They did send out that press release talking about how well the show is doing internationally.

Here’s the truth. Our network partners—they’re running a business. They have a way that they have to go about things. They have different things that they have to check on. I am patient.

But you have thought about it and written things down?

Oh yeah. [laughs] Many conversations. Yes, there is work being done on season 3, whether officially or not.

No where does Meyer say they're treating season two as it's last. Also, either they're woefully ignorant of the business or just ignoring how it operates. Any season could be a show's last. You just don't know sometimes, especially on streamer. Look at COWBOY BEPOP. Or SANDMAN, still awaiting word on a season two.

And you don't start breaking the next season until you get that order for another season. So yeah, he isn't thinking too much beyond season two.

I would think that a long as Anson Mount wants to keep going the series will have legs and when he's done, they can spin off characters if they want. They could even move the timeline post TOS and do Kirk's second 5 year mission or Captain Sulu.

THIS. SO MUCH THIS.

Also, I'm not kidding, if they cancel Strange New Worlds after just two seasons, I will unsubscribe from Paramount+. ALL the other Trek shows are just life support until I get to see Strange New Worlds season 2, in varying degrees of effectiveness (Lower Decks is at least entertaining, but Prodigy is kinda meh, and I don't have any idea what Discovery after season 3 and Picard are thinking). I have waited my whole life for this show, and if they take it away, I will probably cease to be a Trekkie out of sheer devastation.

Because that's all that Patrick Stewart wanted to do. If Patrick Stewart was willing to do a fourth season, they would have done a fourth season.
Hrs honestly too old after the third season. He's lost his baritone voice long ago and doesn't have a commanding presence anymore. I would rather see a riker series now with his own ship. He's a good 10 years younger and still sounds like Riker.

That is something that the sound effects guys could have fixed in post production. I mean they can make aweful singers sound great, they can deepen and improve the recordings of Patrick Stewarts voice to sound like the old Picard.

Maybe. It's funny but Shatner is 10 years older and he sounds almost the same. His voice is still strong. Sounds much better than Stewart's.

I recall reading that Stewart smokes a ton of weed for his arthritis, he probably should have used gummies.
