Ever since the JJ-verse allowed the "Alternate Timeline" to be canon, why are you so against it?
Heck even Lower Decks admits to the existence of Parallel Timelines / Worlds.
the 'alternate timeline' aspect has been a part of Star Trek since
The Naked Now,
Tomorrow Is Yesterday,
City On The Edge of Forever,
Assignment Earth, et. al and Alternate Realities since
Mirror, Mirror.
That isn't the problem here. The issue here is younger fans who haven't really seen all of Star Trek somehow believing its continuity and canon have been consistent and somehow unchanging from the start.
It was this way in the original series era.
It was EXACTLY the same in the Berman/Braga 24th Century era.
(and NO it wasn't 'better' or 'more cohesive' or 'paid better attention too' it was the same "Hey, if we need a change for the story we're telling today, we do the change." like it has ALWAYS been for Star Trek.)
And it's the same today for the Kurtzman/Streaming Trek era,
It's ALL the same constantly re-arranged/patchworked timeline its ALWAZYS been from day one through today in 2025.
Say it with me:
YATI - Yet Another Trek Inconsistency
^^^
Been around since the start of Trek fandom in the 60s. Trek fans don't just start claiming 'alternate timeline/alternate Trek dimension' (and JJ's Kelvin Universe is the latter, not the former) - they rationale the hell out 0of everything to make it fit, even when it clearly doesn't. It's what we're done since September 8, 1966 and has a 59 year history of its own.
So yeah, it's ALL the same timeline/universe except for the separate Mirror Universe and the JJ Abrams Kelvin Universe. And it always will be, even when the next group of Star Trek Producers hit the scene.
