the no salt
In fairness to the "No Salt"-take, plenty of food have enough sodium naturally in it's raw ingredients.
There are A LOT of "Non-Salt" additives like "Black Pepper" or other herbs & spices that can increase the flavor of food w/o using any Salt.

Most Nutritional Guidelines state that you only need ¼ TeaSpoon of Salt per day for your diet.

Everything else flavor wise can be compensated by Non-Salt alternatives to flavoring.

Warp drive, for instance, was a post-2236 thing until it wasn't, and that retcon happened by the second season of TOS. The Enterprise was solely an Earth vessel and there was no Federation, until in "Arena" there was.

Julian graduated from medical school at 27, so he was doing SOMETHING right....genetic enhancements or not.

Google reminds that Beverly was 26 when she graduated Starfleet Academy.

Crusher attended Starfleet Academy from 2342 to 2350 during which she attended medical school. While attending the academy, she became romantically involved with fellow cadet Jack Crusher. They were introduced by their friend, Walker Keel. She graduated top of her class and married Jack in 2348. She had also been called "the Dancing Doctor" when she was at the academy because she had won multiple awards at a dance competition in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2350, she started an internship with Dr. Dalen Quaice.

Right. The only two doctors we know any thing about graduated at about exactly the same age... Although The actress who played Elizabeth Lense, the Valedictorian of Julian's class was 31 in 1995, only 6 months older than Alexander Siddig.

("Sigh" That took a while.)

Two is a coincidence, but three is a pattern

So Medical students "must" take a modified 8 year long Academy course, twice as long as regular, so that they can simultaneously go to medical school "some where else" too, at the same time.

McCoy was probably 26, too, since in the Prime Timeline he turned 18 in 2245 and had graduated medical school by 2253, the year in which he made a breakthrough in a neural surgery procedure that would be referenced by the EMH to Dr. Denara Pel in the Delta Quadrant almost 120 years later.

Assuming Julian started his road to becoming a StarFleet doctor at the age of 18, graduating at 27 makes sense.

According to most Google results, 7-10 years is how long it takes to become a certified doctor.

Julian taking 9 years to complete basic StarFleet training and becoming a certified doctor makes sense.

In the 24th Century that means you're behind the curve. Most are doing brain surgery at 15. ;)
He became a chief medical officer in his 20s. Faster than Kirk became captain. With the new retcon coming up Kirk will be about 45 when he takes the Enterprise. Spock will be early 40s. So Julian did well.

Gosh. This is the very first time I've ever heard this very important nutritional information. Just goes to show that even a 70 year old woman with high blood pressure can be educated without even asking for it.

And of course Tendi.

That includes residency, Starfleet medical graduation would probably be more like someone graduating from medschool with the residency period being serving on a starship/station/outpost as an Ensign/Lieutenant.

Hopefully this information changes your diet and how you cook your meals.

There are A LOT of Non-Salt alternatives you can use to cooking.

He's not a Prodigy / Genius w/o reason.

He must've worked hard to get his residency done within that time-frame so he can graduate to a CMO posting.

I just assumed it is similar to modern day military academies in the US. Four years at the academy (culminating in an undergrad degree), then four years at the Uniformed Services University (earning an MD). One graduates the Academy as an ensign, then graduates Starfleet Medical as a lieutenant JG and a physician, with all 8 years considered being "at Starfleet Academy." Not sure how Starfleet would factor in internship/residency.

I don’t know how to feel about this episode.
I found it funny in many respects. Douna’s relationship suffering from too much chemistry was an interesting take on the old “couples break up for ridiculous reasons” trope.

But as Jessie Gender explains, the genetic determinism endorsed here gives reason to think. Perhaps it means that traits we think of as cultural really are based in genetics? I’ll be looking at the people(s) surrounding me, their behaviours and habits with new eyes.

Almost everyone in Starfleet is a Prodigy/Genius.

That literally runs against what we were told in the episode.

And given her general take on said episode, I really wouldn't put much stock in her opinions here.

You really didn't get how your post was actually received at all, did you?

She's obviously no longer on the Enterprise by the time of Space Seed (and probably hasn't been for quite some time), so why would anybody bring her up.
Also, they had their hands full just dealing with Khan, I doubt there was time for a conversation about a past crew member.
(though it's probably safe to assume that she was on Kirk & Spock's minds, but neither wanted to bring it up)
The dialogue in thr original episode makes it pretty clear that Kirk has given little thought to the Eugenics Wars. Altered timeline, maybe an alternate universe.

Lower Decks seems to imply that what we watch, are usually the "Hero Vessels", which usually contain the "Best of the Best".

While lesser vessels are more "Above Average", & "Pretty Dang Smart" than Prodigy's or Geniuses.
The only one I can think of in Lower Decks that would have been anything other then a genius or prodigy is Fletcher, and well, he got kicked out.

For the rest "Hero Vessels" are basically the difference between the 99th percentile and the 99.9th percentile.
