Plus Trip in the Mirror Universe episodes says that the warp nacelles on the TOS Defiant are stunningly large and impressive and he wonders how many warp coils they have. The 289-meter Enterprise does have considerably bigger nacelles than the NX-01, but the 442-meter Enterprise makes Mirror Trip's utterance that much more believable.

That's not how it looked in STE. Non canon. The Connie was closer to 300 meters. Just below it. Yup.

The only thing that's canon is that Beto said the 1701 was 442 meters in his documentary. No one said he was right. Heck, did the Enterprise automatically get launched in 2265 instead of 2245 just because Morrow said it was 20 years old in ST3?

Hell, even if you count the Movie Refit the refit process didn't begin until 2271 and the ship in its Movie appearance wasn't launched until the events of TMP in 2273. Morrow was off no matter how you look at the numbers.

Bonanza for example. The interior of the house never would have fit in the exterior dimensions. And I'm not talking about the fact that the shell of the house only went back so far. The height of the interior and exterior don't match. The thing is it just has to look like it can fit. It doesn't have to be an exact science.
But there aren't any Bonanza tech manuals and blueprints and diagrams (I hope) :D

My Gods! How did the size and "what is canon" arguments get in here???

Anyone else die laughing at Pike's Vulcan redo of the credits voiceover?
Yes! My hubby expected him to say "go boldly" though.

in the post-credits scene (which was fucking hilarious), was Ethan Peck breaking character or was that Spock smiling like that?
I think Ethan broke.

Yes, I didn't see ANY of Spock's colorations in there. But I'm assuming that each altered persona may have brought some key traits from their human selves to the Vulcan iteration. Just as the augment was so strong in La'an, the communicative need in Uhura, the inclination toward scientific research in Chapel, I think that perhaps Pike's need to lead and have control (a trait he probably shares w/ a lot of captain types) made him obsessed with having control over his immediate surroundings.
^This. The serum not only made them all think they were being logical, it also turned certain aspects of their personalities up to eleven.

I loved Spock-in-La'an's mind going from a fight to a dance - it was gorgeous. I didn't see her so much being Romulan or Khan, but as ratcheting up her normal security-consciousness to paranoid levels. I loved Batel getting all up in her boss' face! I totally understood Una - I have been known to act like a complete doofus around certain people in my life! The post-credits scene was awesome.

I was a little disappointed in Anson's performance, except during the dinner scene, where he was terrific. A fun episode.

Getting close to Lexx territory.
Yeah, it kind of does creep up to LEXX territory. (Glad I'm not the only one around who has seen the show.)

It's not as silly as creating and splitting Tuvix, splitting and reforming Kirk/B'elanna, a child destroying most of the dilithium in the galaxy, or warp 10 salamanders
Tuvix at least was a serious situation portrayed seriously. And considering the nature of the transporter, an already farfetched thing to begin with, it actually holds pretty well under the rules established in the franchise.

Splitting and putting B'Elanna's Klingon dna back into her in "FACES" worked because it was treated as a serious scenario, AND was a good character episode, not to mention great horror with the Vidiians. Same with Kirk in "THE ENEMY WITHIN", minus the horror component. (Though one can make a good argument that being split like that and meeting yourself that way IS a horror and terror filled scenario for that person.)

"THRESHOLD"... agreed that the ending is ridiculous, but I will always maintain that was a pretty good episode because it had some great horror in it and, most importantly, great character beats for Tom.

As far as Su'Kal... THAT I totally agree with. That was the absolute stupidest thing the franchise has ever done. (Right with the 'turbolift funhouse'. Funny how DISCO was the show that had TWO of the absolute stupidest things in STAR TREK.) The explanation in this episode doesn't match that level of stupid, but it was still damned stupid.

This is really reaching. It's ridiculous.

The hangar bay shown on TOS is way over-scaled for a ship the size that fans of the under-1000 foot length are insisting on. Reconcile that one before you start on anything since.

Yep. The TOS hangar deck is too cavernous for a 948-foot starship. Hell, the shuttlecraft itself scaled to the Enterprise shows the ship is well over 1,000 feet long.
