Canonwise we knew almost nothing about the Gorn until SNW came along. There’s plenty of space for SNW to color between the canon lines. And color outside those lines if they want.

That in and of itself is fine. I just wish they hadn’t made them so much like the xenomorphs.

Means nothing. On that show, Klingons look nothing like KIingons in the rest of the franchise, and SNW returned to the more familiar designs while directly acknowledging the new Klingons on STD. So there's no real reason to assume that any visual element of the series pertains directly to what would be done on another Trek series.

Sounds like DSC and SNW take place in different universes

Wouldn't it stand to reason they'll retain the original and correct design of the Gorn with some slight improvements, just as they've returned to the proper looks for Andorians and Tellarites this season? I'm not convinced there isn't at least some kind of red herring with respect to the monsterism we've seen on the show so far. That is, I can't imagine they won't try and make it fit when they've gone to lengths to respect other minutiae like Pike's promotion to Fleet Captain.

Kamen Rider / Super Sentai has gotten away with more advanced forms of man in rubber suit for 50+ years and on-going while on a cheapo TV budget.

The Mandalorian proved that people and aliens in suits can still work.

They finally showed the shuttle scene from the intro to season 2 trailer. It’s wild they showed a scene from the finale to welcome the show back. There was more Erica Ortegas in that scene than what we got in the “Erica Ortegas” episode.
