I liked it fine I guess? I had no problem with the premise, with reality changing and everything turning into a musical. Great; go nuts! I have enjoyed tv musical episodes before. But the songs just weren't that good here? Like there were definitely fun moments in them and I definitely thought "this person is good at singing" (Uhura being the best) during the songs but...they were all so samey? A bit basic? They went on too long and I actually got bored during some of them. They didn't really do much in the way of interesting dance choreography either (it was nice when the ships were spinning around at the end.) The obvious point of comparison is the Buffy musical and man stuff like 'Under Your Spell' and 'Rest In Peace' and 'Where Do We Go From Here?' (and the rest really!) were lightyears ahead of anything here. Maybe I expected too much.

I guess M'Benga's actor was the Alyson Hannigan as he only sung like two lines. I kind of expected Pelia to sing more too, I just assumed Carol Kane can sing for some reason!

The Kligon bit was great but they weren't even onscreen for half of it! An odd choice!

A 10.

The soundtrack will be ordered.

This was...different, but at the same time pure Star Trek in that they give a technobabble reason as to why the crew is spontaneously breaking into song.

At the end of the finale, when they are laughing, I wonder if that is the actual reaction of the cast.

Huh.. Interesting..
Name drop Carol and David..
HEMMMER!
Do like musicals.. Not bad. Need more Spock singing.
They only mention Carol's name and that she's pregnant, didn't say the baby's name.
(depending on how far along she is, they may not have decided on a name yet)

I disagree, Chapel knows exactly what she has with Spock, but Boimler's interference has placed doubt in her mind as to whether it is the appropriate thing for Spock's future.
She's giving him up because she loves him dearly and doesn't want to be the thing that holds him back.
I think both are true for her character; she has serious commitment issues AND Boimler let her know that Spock accomplishes great, important things…alone.

That would be utterly devastating to hear, too. Someone telling you that the person you love is going to do so much better without you. It would make you feel like a burden. That's a terrible, lonely feeling.

Yes. It made her feel like she didn’t belong in his life, like the cosmos doesn’t want them to be together.

Yes, most of the melodies were quite lame. Like something you come up with on the spot when asked to sing some lines instead of just speaking. Or those autotuned videos that turn spoken text from a movie into songs. Spock and Uhura had the better ones, and La'an's was ok.

By the time Boimler shows up both of them are mostly beyond their commitment issues.

It's their own self doubts that are making the relationship rocky.
That and the fact that they don't really communicate with each other.

Boimler's addition to the mix, puts Christine's doubts into overdrive and she then foolishly makes the decision that she's no good for Spock and essentially leaves him hanging.
Not knowing why, and growing his own inner demons that the fault is his.

Fell flat for me. The songs were not all that great. Mostly forgettable. With the Klingon number being the worst of the lot. The ships doing a dance was a bit weird also. Gave this one a 5 like the cartoon episode. Again though I do love the production quality of this show.

Babs looked a bit uncomfortable during this episode. I know his character doesn't sing. But his dancing left much to be desired as well. Lol

Dang this lack of being able to edit my posts.

I meant to add in: Was the actor for the Klingon commander the same dude who played Martok in DS9? I can't imagine it was, but he at least looked really similar to me.

Not just you, I did too and had to look it up to find out it was Hemmer's actor Bruce Horak!

I thought the premise for the singing was dumb, as someone else stated, but Its basically what we all knew it would be and I didn’t care. Not all the songs were great and I felt like the songs didn’t tell us anything new about the characters we didn’t already know so from a plot point there wasn’t much there.

As an excuse to just have the cast sing and dance and have some fun and not take things too seriously it mostly worked for me. The lip syncing and very noticeable auto tune at times was pretty distracting. I didn’t hate it but also didn’t a lot of it very engaging. The last two songs were really good, and there were a few others I enjoyed.

I’m leaning towards a 7 here..maybe an 8 for the last two songs (I actually didn’t want the last one to end lol

Wait a second. Since Chapel already knows that things with Spock aren't going anywhere, thanks to Boimler, isn't she making the correct decision? Girl can't sit around forever waiting for a man who isn't actually going to choose to be with her.

Yeah, this does set up one of those paradox things -- if Chapel refuses to accept what she heard, maybe things go some other way. But she didn't, and they won't.
And yet years later she still has feelings for Spock. So makes her also a hypocrite
Some people only want a person when they are unavailable or not interested, they just want the thrill of the chase.
The irony is Chapel is the cause for why SNW Spock becomes TOS Spock. A self fulfilling prophecy
