My God, with a capital G. I would see the hell out of this, were it on a Broadway stage. I love me a good musical, so this was a hard 11 out of 10 for me. I amazed at the vocal stylings of the cast. Obviously this wouldn't have been possible if one or more of them couldn't hold a tune, though I guess they could have dubbed an actual singer's voice in. Actually, it would have been funny to have one of them lamenting that they couldn't sing and have fellow crew members have adverse reactions to the cacophony. But then again, that would have perhaps been a step over the corny line. I have an idea Anson Mount doesn't have much range, seeing as he didn't have much of a solo.

It was completely daring and bonkers and I loved every single minute of it. Easily in my top 5 episodes of all time and Trek.

This just tickled me so much!

Pretty sure his lack of range is why Chelsea got rid mate

Okay, more later maybe. but for now...

1. I actually did not hate this, although I did glance at the time a couple of times.

2. The cast members, by and large, are pretty good singers with pleasant voices. This seems to be fairly common among actors. I guess they were all the glee club and drama club kids in school, eh?

3. I like that there was actually a Trek story and problem to solve here- I was worried that this episode was just going to be silliness all around, but it wasn't that at all, and they managed to work in some serious character-arc stuff.

4. The lyrics of the songs pertaining to their 'problem' were nothing short of brilliant.

5. First mention of Carol Marcus. Still no 'visual' on Roger Korby.

6. Although okay, this does NOT need to be a well the show returns to any time in the near future.

One more episode to go!

I wouldn't mind a follow-up in two or three more seasons. ;)

I do have to say, while I really enjoyed Christina Chong's singing, I'm actually pleased that the big emotional exchange between La'an and Jim wasn't in song. It was an excellently acted scene and could have certainly been a duet. I wonder if it was planned but if Paul Wesley just didn't have that great of a voice to work with.

Oh FFS! Whoops. I'm a huge Chelsea follower, so that's probably why my mind just automatically did that. :guffaw::guffaw:

And on that note, I'm REALLY not happy that he left. I know the team needed some serious gutting this summer, but that one hurt.

And points off the series/season for only doing 10-episode stretches so we never get to re all see the Spock/Chapel ship. They hook-up, go through some turbulence, she gets a 3-month fellowship (?!), they break-up. Huh?

I had the same thoughts.

I'll withhold judgement until after the finale.

Y’all this episode is a 11/10. Loved it. Dancing Klingons y’all!

But.

I have a bad feeling about next week. I don’t trust that ending between Pike and his girlfriend and her being called away.

Also I felt this episode did move some of the characters along to make space for where we know they will be when TOS takes place. Very clever of the writers on doing that.

But in the moment, this episode is great. Definitely in the spirit of DS9 and their seasonal Ferengi episodes.

I am not a big musical fan. It progressed the story along. The singing was ok. I didn't pay as much attention during the songs. I rather hate that two romances pretty much died in this episode. I hate that we're not exploring Spock/Chapel for longer. Spock is too hurt. They're obviously going to be completely broken up by Season 3.

I like that they're keeping the timeline straight with Carol Marcus's pregnancy, but I hate that we don't get to explore Kirk /La'an more. Although the reasons to get Kirk on the Enterprise are getting more and more contrived.

I am greatly anticipating next week's finale. I think it's going to be what we've been waiting all season to see regarding the conflict with the Gorn.

Hey, I grew up finding myself singing songs from the Albert Finney Scrooge soundtrack in the middle of the year and to this day will break into a spontaneous rendition of "Thank You Very Much" with no prompting whatsoever and nobody else to listen. I can roll with this episode. :)
Sometimes I wake up with "I Like Life" in my head. Those are nice days.

The reasons for getting Kirk on board are getting as contrived as it was to get Worf in the TNG movies. At some point they're just totally going to go, "Oh, look, he's here now."
