nice story, good idea, but the songs were awful. which is a pity
After 35 you just don't recover like you used toSo, why didn't Spock try drinking the Klingons under the table to keep Kirk and McCoy out of Rura Penthe?

My God, with a capital G. I would see the hell out of this, were it on a Broadway stage. I love me a good musical, so this was a hard 11 out of 10 for me. I amazed at the vocal stylings of the cast. Obviously this wouldn't have been possible if one or more of them couldn't hold a tune, though I guess they could have dubbed an actual singer's voice in. Actually, it would have been funny to have one of them lamenting that they couldn't sing and have fellow crew members have adverse reactions to the cacophony. But then again, that would have perhaps been a step over the corny line. I have an idea Mason Mount doesn't have much range, seeing as he didn't have much of a solo.
It was completely daring and bonkers and I loved every single minute of it. Easily in my top 5 episodes of all time and Trek.
Ten episodes a season isn't enough for this show. 10 with the only criticism is I wish there was a bit more variety in styles.
This just tickled me so much!
Pretty sure his lack of range is why Chelsea got rid mate
And points off the series/season for only doing 10-episode stretches so we never get to re all see the Spock/Chapel ship. They hook-up, go through some turbulence, she gets a 3-month fellowship (?!), they break-up. Huh?
Well, she is only human. Also she makes that confession under the influence. And yet years later she still has feelings for Spock. So makes her also a hypocrite
I was 100% expecting this lyric in the final song'There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow...'
Sometimes I wake up with "I Like Life" in my head. Those are nice days.Hey, I grew up finding myself singing songs from the Albert Finney Scrooge soundtrack in the middle of the year and to this day will break into a spontaneous rendition of "Thank You Very Much" with no prompting whatsoever and nobody else to listen. I can roll with this episode.![]()
I am not a big musical fan. It progressed the story along. The singing was ok. I didn't pay as much attention during the songs. I rather hate that two romances pretty much died in this episode. I hate that we're not exploring Spock/Chapel for longer. Spock is too hurt. They're obviously going to be completely broken up by Season 3.
I like that they're keeping the timeline straight with Carol Marcus's pregnancy, but I hate that we don't get to explore Kirk /La'an more. Although the reasons to get Kirk on the Enterprise are getting more and more contrived.
I am greatly anticipating next week's finale. I think it's going to be what we've been waiting all season to see regarding the conflict with the Gorn.
