I rolled my eyes at that one, too, but at least they attempted to explain it. Should have made it a running gag, then, and a joke about how easily swayed we are by money, or something.
Once was enough to establish things. No need to waste time repeating it.

Isn't nitpicking what we do here, in general?
That is not my goal here, no.
I’m researching Prohibition era smuggling routes as part of my dissertation work and I know of at least a dozen places where it’s possible to cross without reporting to a crossing in Vermont. Risky? Of course. But certainly not impossible.
I know a couple over by BC and Alberta.

They bribed a border guard to get to Vermont, but they cannot get a hotel room on the down low?! Seriously?
Well, it is the US-Canadian border, which probably has lax security since the US sends all its qualified Border Patrol guards to the Mexican border because, you know.

Crap, I just made this political, didn't I?
P.S. "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" unambiguously does not take place in the real world.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?! You mean there isn't that huge ass bridge in Toronto?

It was lost in the Great Poutine War of 2019.
War? More of a skirmish. Poutine from outside Quebec can, on occasion, be decent, but we in La Belle Province have the best, and it’s not even close. Quebec poutine is like the latest model Abrams main battle tank, while the rest of Canada’s poutine is, at its finest, a Soviet T-55. Outside Canada? British tank circa 1917.

(The above possibly exaggerated for nationalistic bragging purposes, slightly.)

This post wins four out of a possible five Timbits.

I see your Quebec poutine and raise you a Nova Scotia donair.

Man, that Lake Ontario bridge was ass-ugly and a half.

Also I know there's been a lot of talk about things like La'an leaving the gun with Khan, but I think she did that on purpose. Khan needs to grow up to become a violent, murderous dictator, so he might as well be exposed to violence as early as possible.

And again, as opposed as I initially was to moving the Eugenics Wars, i'm glad that they did it IN-UNIVERSE. Not only does it have the benefit of not decanonizing TOS, but it's a ready-made explanation as to why the technology and aesthetics of SNW are so much more advanced. Perhaps by having World War III occur so much later, doesn't cause as much of a hit on Earth's technology as the original did.

Kirk and La'an do make a cute couple, don't they? :D

One thing, though. What happened to Kirk's body? The DTI took care of it, perhaps? One would think that just leaving him there would in itself be disruptive to the timeline...

They don't want to give the impression that actual peace officers from their law enforcement agency were actually used in the episode. To do otherwise would technically be impersonating an actual Law Enforcement Officer/Organization.

Oh, for fuck's sake. It's ACTING! Everybody knows what that means. Playing the ROLE of a cop is not impersonating a cop.

Ah well. It's what I've always said: Lawyers are the enemy of common sense.

Reintergrated or some other technical term.

Nowadays no one wants that risk. They don't want pictures taken out and pushed out to social media with zero context and play PR clean up.

For fuck's sake, a friend of mine got stopped by police for cosplaying as a Borg and the officer had to call in to dispatch to confirm that yes, there was indeed, a convention occurring right across the street from where they were standing.

Common sense is not so common.

It's just the body of an unidentified male, not sure how that would be disruptive. Also, the Institute was obviously involved in some nefarious activity, they may just have quietly disposed on the corpse.

I wasn't aware it was illegal to dress as a Borg in public.

I mean, what's the charge? Impersonating a fictional cybernetic being?

Common sense is not so common.

It should be.

I suppose the whole thing could have been blamed on Kirk...an intruder tries to gain access, and is shot dead. With no records of him, the investigation would stall. I guess I'm OK with that.

The appearance of having weapons caused concern.

It should be.
With all due respect this assumes all humans have the same cognitive capabilities and are taught to use them. In my 10 years as a retail manager, and 6 as a mental health provider, that assumption is a generous one, at best.
