Also, of course, the US right now
Yes, thank you! I'm an American so we've been brainwashed not to notice these past few years but you reminded me and I appreciate it.
also, some kind of ID
Receptionist : Let me see your identification.

La'an: [with a small wave of her hand] You don't need to see his identification.

Receptionist : We don't need to see his identification.

La'an : He can go about his business.

Receptionist : You can go about your business.

La'an : Move along.

Receptionist : Move along... move along.

Kirk: I don't understand how we got by that receptionist. I thought we were dead.

La'an: Inherited augment abilities can have a strong influence on the weak-minded.

Time Travel is an omnipresent binary.

Either it's allowed forever or it's disallowed forever.

Due to the nature of Time Travel, that's the only way it can work, because the people in the past and future won't care if people in the present try to say "Well you can't do that it's illegal!" They'll just do it anyways and the people in the present won't have any way to stop them.

At which point the people in the present cease to exist because they gave up their Time Travel technology which is needed to protect them from actions taken by people in the past/future.
Yeah, that's not how Trek has ever shown it to work.

To ban time travel after a certain point you just have to invent and deploy a galaxy wide dampening field that prevents temporal rifts from forming. It would still allow people to arrive from the past (since the rift formed in the past), but you can't leave or arrive from the future. No one uptime can come back to stop it, and people in the past don't know about it to prevent it from being deployed. This idea comes from the DTI novels, by the way.

The tvtropes page is getting a bit sloppy, in regards to this episode it says

Sera's politics are not quite internally consistent (she films cops to prevent police brutality, which is left-wing-coded, but she proposes a conspiracy theory about an alien invasion being covered up by an international cabal, which is right-wing-coded). To a 21st-century observer, this could be a sign that something is off.

In reality, people open to theories about government coverups of aliens also are Democrats. The late Democratic senator Harry Reid seemed to think there was something: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/21/special-series/harry-reid-ufo.html and even President Obama admitted one of the first things he asked in office is ‘Alright, is there the lab somewhere where we’re keeping the alien specimens and space ship?’: https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/19/politics/barack-obama-ufos/index.html

What are you going on about?
He's in episodes less so Mount could spend time with his new kid.
And Number One is in episodes less so Romijn could spend time with her daughters?

Four years ago I had concerns that Pike would be pushed out of the show using every excuse. Whatever the reason was, my fears now confirmed.

There's absolutely no evidence that Pike is getting pushed out of the show. Every episode in TNG was not the Picard show. Every episode in DS9 was not the Sisko show.

Yup, but we also know that's not actually a thing here since people can still travel to the past from the 31st century.

In interviews, Anson doesn't seem concerned himself, and next week he's the guest on The Ready Room, so I'm pretty sure E4 is Pike forward. It's fine. This is supposed to be an ensemble show, not star driven.
Also, a brand new baby is different from two preteens at home with their father, m'kay?

that sounds like a conspiracy theory.
Mount requested the time, they didn't push him out.
He's also starring in the next week's episode.

He doesn't need to be the focus of every episode, especially since there are so many talented actors who are also on the show that a single episode can focus on. It's not the Pike show, it's about the crew of the Enterprise.

I'd rather have Mount get to take off an episode so he can spend time with his family instead of leaving the show early because he isn't spending enough time with his family.
