Why would he do that though? Kirk is (was) commanding his own ship. Pike doesn't know the events of the original series like we do. Who's to say that Kirk deserves the Enterprise and not Spock.
Pike didn't hand the ship to Kirk in TOS because of his accident either. The Menagerie says that Pike got promoted to fleet captain, then Kirk took command. The handover is in no way connected to the accident at all.

Also isn't Pike now obligated to tell Starfleet Command everything that happened or at least that Romulans, the Fed's oldest enemy, are an offshoot of Vulcans? This isn't classified like the Disco stuff was. He has no reason to keep it secret.

The wine-red on blood-red looks odd, and the flap angle is too low. Otherwise it looks great!
The Farragut's inward curving pylons look ridiculous
But I like the Romulan uniforms in this alternate future.
This was a combination of Tapestry and BoT, and I like the Tapestry aspect of it. The BoT was a little too much of a copy of the original.

An okay episode but I’m not the biggest fan of Pike choosing Kirk to be his successor because of this. That seems a bit much.
I would have also liked the Enterprise to look a bit more TOS like at that time. Straight struts perhaps.
7/10

Probably a reinterpretation/modernization to go with the current uniform styles. I wonder if that timeline skipped the horrible TMP jumpsuits? I was really hoping we’d somehow get a glimpse of a refit in there as well.
It's just the shoulder strap being too long and the angle of the flap that's very... cosplay-ish. Maybe it looks better in motion.

An excellent season finale. Really like how the episode was around an hour.

Sadly, Pike's senior staff is getting whittled down.

Nice touch with Future Pike's uniform.

Jim Kirk!

Too bad Hemmer wasn't somehow alive in that timeline. Still... Scotty!

I don't love the changes to the Monster Maroon, but since it's from an alternate timeline, it's not really an issue. I think the flap angle was changed so that it would be parallel to the seam of the shoulder panel.

Oh, and I loved the episode.

Great episode, a 10. Some tiny elements of it backed it from that 11, but a great episode. Liked them going into BoT.

But warp in a TOS shuttle? No.

Off-screen Scotty handing the tool over while talking with his thick accent? A bit corny.

And I wasn't feeling this look/take in Kirk. He really seemed to lack Kirk's handsomeness and charm. It didn't feel like Kirk.

And people up thread comparing this to LD? Keep your rapid-fire, canon-referencing, low-brow humor elsewhere. (Sorry, just really dislike LD and don't think it fits with anything else going on in the franchise.)

But this episode was great.

A 10.... Okay, 10.5.

Great ending to the best first season of Star Trek.

Funny the tiny things that bugged me... Ortegas still having the exact same haircut after 7 years seemed very unlikely! I guess we're doing pretty well if that's the level of thing that is left to annoy me.

The shooty phaser battle was fun!

I really didn't see any of TOS Kirk in Paul Wesley's performance, which felt a little weird considering how much of the original characters are in Anson Mount and Ethan Peck's versions. I thought he was fine, there just wasn't anything there to make me think "this is Kirk", despite really trying to find some glimmer of it.

Future Pike: Spock is crippled or killed in every attempt to avert the delta radiation accident! And Spock needs to save Earth from the whale probe!

Pike: If Spock transfers his katra elsewhere, then we flash grow a clone Spock and transfer his katra back into it, everything will be fine. In fact, I have a feeling that's *already* happened even before this whale probe business you mention.

I like the alternate take on "Balance of Terror", but this doesn't match up to that. Kirk also doesn't feel like Kirk. @Trekker4747 sums it up.

Pretty much my take.

The Romulan Commander, though, did act in-character and felt the way he should. And the Praetor's response was dead-on. She wants to test the Federation's strength and, in her eyes, they failed.

Pike, here, was even more dove-ish than Picard. Even Picard, always less gung-ho than Kirk, knew how to stare down the Romulans.

Pike really cares about his crew and doing what he thinks is best for them. Like any father-figure. And he's willing to sacrifice his own fate so Spock can have a better future and so millions of lives won't be lost on a war with the Romulans.

I'm wondering why it took until the 10th episode to arrest Number One. I wonder if it took seven episodes' worth of time for the Federation Council to deliberate? In which case, if it took that long to argue about it behind the scenes and figure out what to do, then not everyone in the Federation Council agrees with arresting her.

I'll go with an 8.

New theory: Khan wasn't actually going to take over Kirk's ship in Space Seed, just wake the rest of his people then go on his way. But once he read on the Enterprise's computer what happened to Una, and seeing fellow Augments persecuted and treated like criminal trash, he snapped and decided to get revenge. The Fed's actions caused Khan to go on his 23rd century rampages.

I wonder who voiced Scotty. There’s no one credited at the end as ‘Scotty’ there is someone credited as ‘Engineer’ but that could be any character

The bride and groom aren’t given names.
