What a really fun episode, which still managed to have a ton of interesting character development. Fitting an A, B, C and minor D plot effectively into one episode, impressive.

Not if the humanoid species has male and females.

I say to find true aliens sexually attractive one would have to have some from of pansexuality or xenosexuality in them. It's easy now to say that it'd be an easy thing to accept because we know aliens are just humans in makeup and latex, or CGI or some other thing that, ultimately, boils down to being "human." That's different than looking at someone and knowing they're an alien, something different than you.

It would be pretty akin to finding dogs and other lower animals attractive. You're looking at something that is not like you and saying: "Yes! That!" The difference being that sapient aliens we have a way of communicating with and can give consent (unlike a dog.) I also speak from the perspective of what a real alien would look like, which wouldn't be an attractive human with a clump of latex glued to their head ot ears.

I do find it funny how heterosexual is becoming a word not to be used or acknowledged in tv or movies. It's like they are afraid of offending people by having acknowledged a heterosexual in a show. It's really getting ludicrous. Ethan Peck dodged the question when he was asked if Spock was bisexual. He says he plays the character as written. Why does everyone want every character to be a bisexual? So annoying.

This reads to me too much like a Right-Wing expression of fear of the WASP cis-gendered male being "cancelled" because everyone too much wants to acknowledge other types of people exist.

Am I the only one who thinks the number of producers in the opening is downright comical? Maybe they should just show the actors' names, with maybe the writers and director.

IIRC There's a SAG rule that says if the producers get a credit the actors have to too and vice-versa. This is was why George Lucas named his studio "Lucasfilm" it was so he could get his name before the movie but not given anyone any credits in the opening and start with the crawl. (Otherwise he would have started with something like " a George Lucas film" and then gone into the "a long time ago" card. He couldn't put his name in a credit before the movie and not also give one to the main cast. SAG rules.

No real on screen evidence that this is indeed the case. Its just fan supposition at this point.
It's possible, of course, that the season only represents a small part of a year, but I'm pretty sure by season 2, a year will have passed. It just makes more sense that way. So either S1 is all concentrated into part of a year, or there's possible spacing between some chapters.

I thought we were going see M'bemba on a date, but no, just fishing. Dude is just enjoying the water after so long on Arrakis.

After thinking about the episode a bit (which I'll be honest I didn't really like but it is what it is), I think if they are going to be keeping T'Pring around then they should go there. As in the 'there' that was spelled out in this episode--that Spock fears T'Pring will dump Spock because he's a half breed descended from an inferior race. And have T'Pring do exactly that for exactly that reason.

T'Pring sees Spock does some human type stuff in Strange New Worlds. She pretends not to notice but goes home and runs into Stonn, the epitome of Vulcan physique and culture who knows Surak's teachings like the back of his ears and just show to the audience that Spock has no chance at all. Make Spock suffer while forcing him to be stoic about it (I don't think anything in Amok Time precludes him knowing about Stonn technically beforehand). Show T'Pring ghosting Spock on subspace channels while he wonders what he did wrong. Show Spock desperately denouncing his mother and humanity to "prove" to T'Pring he's a true Vulcan like her. Go all the way with it. Don't hold back.

To twist the knife further, have stunningly beautiful Leila Kalomi show up ready and willing to get it on with Spock only for Spock to denounce her and all humans to "prove" his Vulcan status to T'Pring (ultimately dooming him to have neither).
It's probably already fanfiction somewhere. But he must never renounce his mama. That ain't right.

No, Amok Time was a hard stop, a final end point, for their relationship. After T'Pring had Spock fight Kirk in a fight that usually goes to the death for her own selfish reasons, and Spock thinking he had killed his friend, there was no going back. It was clear early on in Amok Time that he was not particularly glad to see her even before the disastrous ceremony.
I think you mean her own LOGICAL reasons. ;)

They did pass through some sort of wormhole, though.
A tachyon eddy threw them into warp speed.

One thing DSC did flawlessly when it was still in the 23rd century was not mention the Romulans even once. They were never brought up. As they shouldn't have been.
According to one of the writers on DSC Season 1, Romulans were a forbidden subject in the writers room because of Balance of Terror.

T'Pring's not going to waste her time at this point but just run straight to Stonn. A tough, masculine Vulcan that Spock has no chance to compete against. Played by, uh, Chris Hemsworth with Marvel physique.

Sam Kirk: Dad? Why are you a Vulcan now?
Stonn: Move aside, illogical human. I am Stonn.

You have an attachment to a version of Spock that lives entirely in your head I think:)

Watching it again.

I get to agree with La'an being alone on the ship with just the gene thrum of the warp core sounds pleasant. (Though I'd find the notion if it soothing. What it's doing, the energy being produced by it, and what it makes possible. People are idiots La'an is fun!)
