Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 1x04 - "Memento Mori"

Ah, but no one can take away our own estimation of Star Trek's entertainment and cultural value. No one.

Me, I adore the "Arena" Gorn. Sure he looks and acts ridiculous. But, damn those performances were sincere.

 

What did you think about the Gorn from In A Mirror Darkly part II? To me, that one was kewler, but as blatantly CGI as the Defiant. Not terrible, but not great either.

Of course the Gorn we saw on LD were more comedic as they should be on that show.

 

The Gorn from ENT was okay for the "blink and you'll miss it" scene it was in. I didn't think it was goofy, but it also didn't make me think, "I want to see more Gorn!"

Genuine question: How much did we know about Chapel from TOS?

 

That poor Gorn on the Defiant. I felt sorry for that one, too.

 

A less silly Gorn. Is that even possible?

The correct answer is... they are the same.

 

I don't remember Kirk's Gorn buddy having those reverse bending knees. But that could be one of those other sub-species

A nonsensical remark from an episode full of 'em. Pike would have been maybe fifteen years older than Kirk, at least.

 

I am also not a fan of TOS Gorn. He did look ridiculous. ENT Gorn wasn’t great either but still an improvement. If they show them on SNW , hopefully it will be much better than those.

The script for “Arena” episode turned out too similar to a short story by scifi writer Fredrick Brown. So they bought the story from him and gave him story credit for the episode. I haven’t read that short story but I suspect there are no Gorn in it.

 

I like the TOS/LDS Gorn. Nice shape, interesting eyes, nice costume...

 

I wonder which Redshirt's chest/skull it burst out of?

Sounded more to me like Kirk questioning the accuracy of the image in terms of events in detail not what Pike looks like.
