Graphic error.

In episode they established it covered all of Federation space, and they already established that Bajor was a part of the Federation. So by definition it must also cover Bajor.
Then they can simply go to Idran and jump from there ;)

Solid performances and character work. SAM's new personality it a bit of a wrench and Genesis is taking the brunt of that but I loved the way she saw straight through Caleb's brutal but transparent attempt to push everyone's buttons to get them to abandon him. Tatiana Maslany proves her acting chops again. I thought Ake walking in and letting Anisha stew about her position seemed a bit harsh. She could have added some words of reassurance.

I love Tarima and her banter with Caleb but it's frustrating that they understand each other so well that they don't bother to communicate what's going on under the hood to the audience, which is much easier to do with Caleb. Possibly, the nature of her abilities has meant she is far more repressed than other Betazoids but if so, I wish her brother could have some more screen time with her to develop this.

I enjoyed the science of warp in part, and the use of warp conduits being dangerous for low spec vessels but it's incredibly dumb to suggest that Sam can adjust the shuttle warp bubble to avoid it being destroyed but the shuttle isn't programmed to do that automatically. How can warp-free saucer separations survive without transitional technology?

For me this is another example of them creating fantastical technology without the common sense of technology that would absolutely evolve alongside it. It's still not as bad as them having to manually install transporter inhibitors on the bridge when every part of every ship should be fitted with transporter inhibitors to prevent people or crucial parts of your ship being beamed into space. It's literally why you have transporter rooms. How many times have they said, "Oh noes, them has breached our shields and beamed a boarding party on board; we are doomed again," when the real risk is, "Oh noes, them has breached our shields and beamed the whole bridge crew and command crew into space and we are deaded. At least Troi is left to take over until they do the same to her."

But I digress.

The concept of the pirates having the time or resources to create an explosive Tholian Web around the entirety of Federation space was silly and unnecessary, up there with a supernova that threatened the entire galaxy. Resources may be more limited but doesn't the Federation have listening stations, patrol ships, deep space stations, networks of informants etc? They could have made the blockade be less expansive or laid the groundwork with listening posts being destroyed, or stressing that the mines are so small and masked that they can only be found if they know what they're looking for.

Overall, I enjoyed it. The whole was not quite as affecting as the last few episodes but pretty decent.

Pretty good. Some parts were very good.

The New Federation must be pretty damn small!

Is there some reason why Lura Thok seems to have disappeared?

Yeah the Lura Thok is puzzling. Like Jay-Den I just don't think they know what to do with her.

Its curious that the three people who "stole" the Athena are the only three crew who didn't graduate from the War College. I half expected Professoe Illa to turn up as part of the theft.

Eh... I'll give them a pass for that as it's pretty clear the show had it's budget pulled out from under it a couple episodes into filming.

Young people are young people.

If people are bringing it's because they refuse to acknowledge being young and dumb.

It breaks my brain the utter lack of sympathy towards being college age by many Trek fans and just insulting them as much as possible. Heaven forbid you be young and inexperienced and say things that you think sound good. Let's all pooh-pooh the unenlightened plebes.

We were all college age at one time. Again I personally didn't say stuff like this. Did I say stupid stuff in college?? Sure.

Don't let the fact that some of us weren't Crazy about the line Fireproof. We are not attacking people of college age.

You know I will say that this was probably the best episode of SFA so far if that is any consolation for you. Yes it had it faults. A lot of them but it was the best so far. Maybe like Disco I will end up loving the last season. Remember how negative I was about Disco? I hated the stories and continuity errors etc. But the last seasonb and a half were great. Here's hoping SFA gets better.

What makes you think the shows budget was pulled?? The production values have been excellent.

This must be true, considering it’s coming from the same person that claimed the cadet quarters set was an “obvious redress off the Strange New Worlds quarters set”, despite it being a completely new set, and the show not being able to “even afford to do location shoots”, even though they filmed on location in five of the nine episodes this season. Not sure how much I’m able to take your expertise seriously in this regard.

Feel free to name the episodes with location shoots.

The giant dropoff in extra's, constant graphic mistakes, and low quality set reuses.
What set reuses beside the academy itself on Sams Homeworld? Tbf all the star trek shows have reused sets. Some extremely obvious

Bajor in “Kids These Days”, the Academy grounds outside in both “Beta Test” and “Vitus Reflux”, Krios in “Vox in Excelso”, and the nightclub inside and outside in “Series Acclimation Mil”.

So what‘s the source for the cadet quarters set being a redress?

Did that set design article we had mention anything? I can't find the link.

At this point, I'm starting to strongly suspect that he hasn't even watched the show and he's only basing his comments and what he reads online.

They visited Generic Market Planet!:D Every space show goes to Generic Market Planet. And they could all be swapped out between franchises without anyone ever noticing.

Very fun episode.

Eagerly awaiting the "I should kick you out of the Academy, but because you saved the galaxy I'm giving you all medals" speech end of the next episode.

The nightclub was a set.

And the others were actually a single location shoot stretched to cover multiple episodes. (Specifically the University of Waterloo) Which is why they stopped doing outdoor scenes in the back half of the season.

So what‘s the source for the cadet quarters set being a redress?
As was said before, people choosing to ignore things do not stop them from existing.
