Star Trek: Renegades

I still play them...when I'm camping and there's no internet!

Actually, that's not entirely true. If we're all together in one place, my fiends and I will usually have a game of something. Scrabble, Texas Hold 'em... We even tried 'Star Trek 'Scene It', but it was too bloody hard.

Wasn't the strongest of the DS9 cast but I'm fond of Farrell. I'd watch her in something like this.

I was really surprised when I read this. For some reason, I thought I had heard that Farrell had retired after having her son.

Agreed.

Getting back on the topic of Renegades:

It seems that those cheeky chaps from Renegades are running a little side project.

Renegades: Destiny Aurora Chronicles-Miniatures Board Game (It's on Kickstarter, otherwise I'd link to it.)

Thoughts?

The obvious question is...

Is it really legit to sell merchandise based on your fan-film?

I never would have thought so.

The word "Star Trek" doesn't appear anywhere in the kickstarter, but no matter what creativity went into Renegades, its setting IS the Star Trek IP. It can't really exist outside of it, and any for-profit enterprise based on the Renegades IP is by extension profiting off of CBS' IP.

Star Trek Farragut was for a while though could find no history as to if they received a C & D or not.

It is likely a gray area, as they were using their own personal designed items (they designed an original patch for their ship) and such, rather than anything that said "Star Trek" on it.

Obviously, if CBS feels it is losing money, then the letter comes out.

Trust me - all law is weird. Hollywood just gets more convoluted because it's mostly common law. You can't just look up a statute and get an easy answer, you have to research precedent.

Besides the script needing to be fine-tuned, they should use the established "future" uniforms seen in TNG's "All Good Things" and DS9's "The Visitor".
