I doubt they will even be allowed to do something that substantial to the Enterprise in this show. They would have made it clearer that it was there if so.

Knowing Picard, the Enterprise was probably destroyed in something incredibly lame. Worse than how the D was destroyed. :)

I actually wonder if the Enterprise-E gets so badly wrecked that she is completely unsalvageable and which will lead to the commissioning of the Enterprise-F. be nice tie-in to PIC Season 3.
It's possible the Ent-E isn't there, since all Sovereigns seem to be using the registry of the Sovereign itself and the nacelle may have been something that was overlooked. If it is there, it will probably get a mention next episode, once the final tally is clear (and assuming no reset button of some kind).

though they should easily be able to stop that with VA Janeway and the Protostar being able to transmit messages)

Any message transmitted from an infected Star Fleet ship carries the infection.
Gwyn was transmitting to Non-Federation ships, though any SF ship that happened to catch her message would also be infected.
The Construct was targeting the new ships as they arrived to have them fired upon, and have them start firing at other SF ships, not infect them.
They would have already been infected before arrival and be fully under the Construct's control at the point of arrival.

Good catch. Gwyn and co should ask one of the allied ships to transmit that message, in this case (though they have probably all been shot up already).

One possible way to stop the construct is to go for the self-destruct, by exploding protostar engine or something similar. I wonder if the Construct would attempt to negotiate (if it is intelligent enough to do so), if it saw a threat to itself and its mission that it may not be able to stop.

I remember someone (Aaron Waltke?) implying that we’d see the 2385-era PIC uniforms appear at some point, the closer we got to that time period.

Will they go back to wearing the older FC-era communicators after using the newer AGT-style ones? For that matter, will Lower Decks start using these Prodigy uniforms and AGT comm badges next season?

While Holo-Janeway was under it's control, that would not have been possible.
At this point, the crew is still locked out of almost all of the Protostar's main functions.
Zero managed to rewire some of the controls away from the Construct, but they still don't have complete control.
One would imagine that the ships destruct function is probably not available yet to them.

When the Protostar was making all its erratic evasive manoevres, they came quite close to ramming one of the Sovvies, and a view from inside that ship (with 2 crewmembers instinctively ducking) was briefly shown.

Since the Dauntless crew wears the same ones, they apparently replaced the FC ones, only to be replaced by the PIC flashback ones soon :D
I gave up trying to make sense of the back-and-forward commbadge mess though :D

They don't need the general self-destruct. The protostar engine is unstable as it is, and I would think Jankom (with the help of Zero and Rok, if need be) would find a way to destabilise it and let his inner Shaxs lose.

But since we don't want the ship to blow up (with its crew!), if they did the construct would probably somehow stop it or negotiate with the crew to get them to stop. The latter could allow the construct to remain present and a threat, but without it continuing the attack.

That uniform on a Sovereign just looks wrong to me.
I wish they wouldn't invent the uniform for every new show. Just comes off as silly. And people complained they changed the uniforms too much in Berman's era. :)

I wonder if Worf was in command of the Defiant in this episode. I know he left DS9 to serve on the Enterprise-E in Nemesis but who knows, maybe he went back to DS9 sometime after Nemesis.

In the Picard novel he becomes captain of the E after Picard buggers off but that isn’t strictly canon.
