na, we’re just supposed to believe they look the same.
They be drivin me crazy yo.

I would also like it if live action was as tentative to Trek lore/canon and progression as the animated series are.
Huh... maybe the animated series are the ones getting the good writers (or have less restrictions in place).
As a person who works in 3d software, I do stuff like that all the time for nothing.
Sure, its a bit time consuming to get the look right (and, depending on the machine, render times can be short or long - its a matter of optimization really)... but nothign that can't be done in a rlatively short amount of time if you're experienced in the software.
Plus, various TV shows like this probably DO have access to cloud based rendering and aren't limited to home personal computers (which are admittedly far more powerful for 3d these days) which would further reduce render times.
I remember, in some Star Wars rebels documentary, or behind the scenes thingy, that the reason why they gave Ezra a hair cut was that they got tired of animating his hair, time consuming. And also how when they had Vader, that they REALLY didn't want him to wear a cape, due to having to animate it. Again, time consuming. Time in rigging, animating, and rendering. With the food, same thing, Hours in rigging, animating, and rendering. These shows do have time limits, have deliverable dates. If they miss them the show doesn't go on.
I noticed something interesting in this episode. When the Janeway hologram is explaining the Federation to the new crew and shows holograms of past famous Starfleet ships, one of them is the original Enterprise as it looked like in TOS. Not the Enterprise as seen in Disco (where it looks different than the TOS one) and in the upcoming Strange New Worlds series.
This is kind of mind boggling to me because I thought Disco's modified version of the TOS Enterprise was now canon and that the Enterprise as seen in TOS (looks-wise) is now non-canon. In other words, I thought the Disco Enterprise is how the NCC-1701 was always supposed to look in the prime timeline.
As you can see on the top left of this screen, that is most definitely the TOS Enterprise. What's funny is that in this same scene (but cannot be seen in this photo) on the far right the USS Discovery can be seen!

I look pretty good for early-40s, so I guess I could live with how I'd look at 50 for hundreds of years. Why settle or aim low?
Biological immortality is inevitable thanks to exponential developments and returns by around 2030-2035... that's at most 14 years away.#
Plus, increasing research is saying that there might not be an upper hard limit to the human lifespan (or healthspan).
And we have examples of humans who are 80 years old, but look 20-30 years younger and are fit (most of them go to the gym though)... and that lifespan and healthspan are thriving when humans are on a plant based nutrition (absent of any/all animal products).

I noticed this too. So far the Discoprise has only been referenced (design wise) in Discovery and Picard. Hopefully this is a good signal that we’ll get something even closer (or dare I hope identical) to the classic 1701 in Strange New Worlds.
It's almost like it's art or something. It is not mind boggling. ALL are correct. ALL are canon. It should be clear by now, artists on different shows are not beholden to slavishly adhere to previous designs, unless they want to do so, or it is a studio mandate.
And thank goodness. Imagine if there were only one design and you didn't like it? Tough luck, huh? Fortunately we have choices, all we gotta do is pick our favorites.
They came before the Federation.
They were a space faring civilization before the Federation. How?

The TOS Enterprise still looks that way in TOS. The ship only looks the way she does in DSC during the new series and likely in SNW. There's been no edict from CBS or Paramount saying that the 1960s design has been retconned out of existence so let's just make that as clear as possible. CBS and Paramount still sell lots of merchandise with the TOS design so nobody has said they've visually retconned the entire era, just fans eager to flush the old design down the toilet because they don't now like it or never have liked it.

Sure but not improbable. Works well enough for my money. While that's true, it stretches credibility that Tellarites, Medusans, Lurians, and Brikars all ended up in the same section of space after centuries of galactic travel. Or maybe I'm just thinking too realistically for a kid's show.

And even the hour-long adult dramas get details wrong.
