We really don't know the political situation though. I imagine the destruction of the homeworlds would lead to decentralisation on an unprecedented level. There are dissidents in the Empire, there would be warlords vying for power etc. Then you have the Remans who may decide now would be the time to cause civil war. There are likely a ton of Romulans who wanted to run to Federation space, Romulans who wanted to stop them etc etc. There is an interesting plot in there if they go this way.

I kept trying to say that about the "science vs faith" theme in the Disco thread, whenever anyone kept saying "but wasn't this series supposed to be all religious and stuff"... erm, that's not what they said

To me, the cadet strikes me more as being like the clerk who feels he has to card everyone buying liquor, even the guy in his 80s. He's asking because he's supposed to ask, but smiling in the face of greatness.

By Picard surprise reaction, it seem like they're talking about someone and that someone is doing something unexpected. To me it sound like that the guy said to Picard, ''Kyra been busy''.

You're right, he did said that. I couldn't harly hear what he said on my laptop. I went to my desktop and see if the sound was better after The Old Mixer had posted to see if I had mistakly heard what was said. Which I've did.

Just thinking about the Hobus supernova. I don't know how they'll technobabble it going FTL... Something intersecting subspace will do me. But so far as we know it *only* wiped out the Romulan home system. Why would the Federation be leading a massive humanitarian armada? It is afterall the Romulan Star Empire. Surely there would still be more then enough resources and planets to relocate any home system survivors and establish a new centre of government within their own freakin' borders?!
Easy. After the loss of the homeworld, there is a drastic impact on the empire’s power and cohesion. Various factions rise up (particularly as the empire no doubt includes conquered/oppressed worlds), the empire descends into chaos and people flee.
It would depend on how big of an impact the shockwave had, given it destroyed Romulus, and another star system. Especially given that Romulus had just recently had a major power shift, losing much of its labor force from Remus, as well as dumping a huge amount of resources into the Scimitar, as well as whatever other damage was done to the military in Shinzon's coup.
For reference, the explosion of Praxis resulted in a bringing the Klingons to the negotiating table was only a moon of Kronos. We're talking multiple systems here, on the heels of a major government change, and very large war with the Dominion. how much resources do you think are left?
