Annika being captain of the Enterprise is very JJ like. She’s only been a Starfleet officer for a year. :)

Realistically I think the average age of Starfleet's officers likely took a huge nosedive. The older officers were the ones more likely to have died/been exterminated by the Borgified youth.

She was arguably Voyager’s unofficial science officer for a good number of years.

Also, Starfleet is probably suffering from a HUGE manpower shortage in the aftermath of this attack. A large number of senior officers were murdered by their Borgified crew, and there’s probably a significant amount of junior officers that are so traumatized by the experience of being mentally raped and forced to kill that they may have resigned their commission.

So both Seven’s promotion and the fast tracking of Jack’s training makes sense in context.

I agree. Starfleet has erased the Titan from history. This is utterly shameful.
It may not have been the original series vision to rename the Titan in to ‘Enterprise’. I am surprised that they were allowed to change the registration number though too.

Perhaps Terry found out that the studio would not green light a Titan spin-off towards the end of filming season 3, so in a final gift to the fans and in a contribution to the Enterprise legacy it was decided to rename the Titan in to the Enterprise NCC 1701 G at the end of the series, to leave us with a new ‘ship of the line’ to fan-fic about? I cannot think of a greater legacy from Picard season 3 than gifting an Enterprise to us fans, even if it was unplanned.

(I am sure that it *must* have been planned though?)

I do know that the Titan sets have been bulldozed though, so there may not be any immediate plans for the Enterprise G. Also, if there was a ‘Legacy’ series then surely Terry and the gang would not be talking about it so much? There would be non disclaimers? Or perhaps no one has signed anything yet?

I'm quite ok with a show set in the 25th century, but I don't need another show on another Enterprise. There are many interesting aspects to Star Trek. I for one would love a show set on Earth and follow Federation politics. West Wing basically.

Or even something set in the early days of the Federation. Get all aspects of that in there. The formation of a multispecies Starfleet, worlds being colonized, the Federation trying to open up diplomatic relations with new species. There is so much to be told. Another 'go boldy and explore' show seems kinda meh right now.

So you're telling me, instead of Picard Season 3 being the origin story of the Enterprise-G, and 3 of its officers (with Raffi and Sevens origins stretching out much longer), you'd rather an all new ship, maybe of the same class, maybe a new class, to make a 10 second cameo at the end of Episode 10?

And you're saying that is better storytelling than a 10 episode origin story where the name "Enterprise" is earned as the ship acts as the hero ship of the Enterprise-D's final, maybe greatest mission together?

*squints eyes*

Seriously?
the name change was totally superfluous, there was nothing wrong with “Titan”.

I mean, I assume the reason why they went with the Titan rename is so that they didn't have to build a new bridge set for a single scene with Captain Seven. lol

I could see the name change from Titan to Enterprise being a public relations move.

The people’s confidence in Starfleet had to have plummeted to zero after an incident where not only was Starfleet a moment away from murdering everyone on Earth, but before that the entire organization was compromised by shapeshifters.

So Starfleet puts the one crew responsible that was able to offer some resistance in the battle together with the most famous name in Starfleet’s history as a way to restore confidence.

Also, if Utopia Planitia is still destroyed, Starfleet’s ability to rebuild the fleet and crank out new ships has probably been severely reduced.

Yes, seriously. The ship already had a legacy name, it didn’t need to earn a new one.

Way late to the party but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice end to TNG. As the season progressed, I sort of hoped for another season with the TNG cast but this is a fitting end. I’d love to see a Seven series with TNG characters guest starring of course and I loved the Worf/Raffi relationship so Worf could show up from time to time. But regardless if this is the last we see of the TNG characters, I’m content and TNG is my fav Trek so that’s saying something. Still would be happy to see Legacy though.

All that being said, I could only make it through page 20 or so. Too much trolling and negativity for me. Part of the reason I rarely come here now is that I’m not a fan of the bickering and the hate thrown around here. Why some people who hate something so much feel the need to come here and crap on others because they liked something is beyond me.

I assume the F was destroyed in the battle (Spacedock/earth defences are clearly pretty impressive)

I was worried throughout the season that they wouldn't "stick the landing". They did. The last episode wasn't jam packed, no massive deus-ex-machina to save the day, plenty of time for an epilogue,

Only sad thing is the D's lights being turned off. Why couldn't Seven have had command of the D (and a new series), with that gorgeous well lit bridge :/

Was it made clear if Seven and Raffi got back together?

I hope not, you can't have a couple in first and second command of a ship.

With a lot of past experiences in and out of Starfleet and in a period of severe manpower shortage.
I can't really recall....

Was it made clear if Seven and Raffi got back together?
It wasn’t.

not really: remember that that set was originally built as the bridge of the Stsrgazer, a totally different ship, it could have represented the bridge of a new class easily.
