I don't think StarFleet only has 7,000 ships for defending so much territory.

I think that was a proto-type networked fleet that Admiral Shelby had test trialed and now we realize the error of her ways.

Given how vast StarFleet is and how many people are serving within StarFleet at any one time.

7,000 ships is a rounding error.

Does anybody know why Paramounts budgets are shrinking?

Star Trek should be doing well enough on it's own.

I counted the ships. It was more like 500 to 600 in a estimate quick count. Starfleet does not have 7000 starships if that was the entire fleet.

Should have cut Raffi and used that budget. Raffi didn't really do anything that Worf couldn't have done on his own....
But Raffi was more in need of closure to her own arc than Soji was. Soji was at least shown to be exploring, and pretty much done with at the beginning of season 2. Data and Soji could have done with their moment, but they at least both had separate, sort of, closures.

The idea was catering to fans. Fans are assholes and never happy. Season 3 established this.

I also am aware I probably just got banned.
Thankfully the Borg never assimilated "the fans" so we are therefore not a hive mind who think the same way about everything.

It is impossible to keep all the fans happy because some have dumb ideas and others like me for instance are incredibly smart

Didn't Will Riker assume command of the USS Titan at the end of ST: Nemesis? Troi (his wife) was his first officer I think (or at the very least she served under him as a councillor - and we saw her on his side in Lower Decks on the Titan).

I also don't think SF has any official rules about fraternization and spouses serving together on the same ship.
The main issue seems to stem from sending both souses on the same mission together which could cause problems.

I think it may be a similar situation with doctors where physicians generally should not treat themselves or members of their immediate families.

SF may have similar rules with their officers... not prohibited, but discouraged.
Serving on the same starship (with one as the captain and the other the subordinate) might not be an issue either... as long as they can show they can remain objective.

Riker did, and Troi was serving on there under him.

However, I did say Starfleet could go either way on it. I just personally think it's a bad idea.

But now that you mention it, Troi is primarily in the medical/clinical side, even though she is a commander and a bridge officer.

Geordi's folks... dad was a scientist, mom was a command officer.

Maybe that is a loophole where Starfleet doesn't mind as much, since it's less likely for a captain or other command officer to have to give orders within the medical/clinical arena.

Deeply, deeply unhappy that the Titan has become the new Enterprise. The Enterprise should be the grandest ship in the fleet, not that little bucket.

Yeah I felt that was odd. I love Seven, she's one of the things that comes across well in this, but they shouldn't give the flagship to a green captain. And her druggy wayward sidekick. And her "Special Assistant" Ensign or some bollocks?

The flagship it ain't. And if they do have a temptation for a spin-off surely not having yet another Enterprise would be a good thing for clarity.

I still think "The Fleet" is just the home fleet or the Third Fleet that is said to protect Earth during Deep Space Nine and the Dominion War, and not the entirety of Starfleet.

It would make sense, given that Riker wonders where the "cavalry" is. If the other fleets of Starfleet are out of position, it's gonna take a while for them to get to the Sol System, and beyond that maybe the networking had disabled the other ships outside of the solar system.

The idea the Enterprise has to always be the Federation Flagship is an entirely TNG era development.

Supposedly the original Shangri-La class Titan, NCC-1777 under Saavik was the flagship in 2290 from the S3 Picard lore files.

I agree. My father passed away 5 years ago and although my parents started watching from the premiere of TOS, my dad really came to love TNG.

All the while watching this season, I couldn't help but think of him and how much he would have loved this just as much as I did.
Over on YouTube last week, a lot of the comments for the videos of the characters finding and reactivating the Enterprise-D discussed how it triggered memories of watching TNG with family.

I remember one comment in particular talking about how TNG and watching Generations was part of the guy's memories with his mother, who has passed away. And watching the Enterprise-D come back to life made him think of how much he wished his mother was there to watch it with him.
