Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x10 - "The Last Generation"

That'd be Jane Edwina Seymour.
Because they had a focused mission to tie it up I felt this was funnily enough one of the more coherent episodes of Picard. It didn't have time to go off into flights of whimsy or fankwankery too much.
It did what it needed to do... but my overriding feeling was we've seen all all this before. Much like Star Wars made a whole story of doing what it had already done - i.e. kill off the emperor then kill him off again - we've seen all this. We've defeated the Borg. We had the send offs with All Good Things and Generations. I don't know what purpose this served other then rehashing all of what we had before and undoing some of those strong elements of Data's sacrifice and Picard having no children.
I will say the Enterprise-D looked fucking gorgeous though bombing about in ways we never got to see in the show.

I had to stay off Facebook all day. Every time I tried to scroll, I encountered, “No spoilers, but wasn’t it great when…” Grrrrrr.
Glad I was able to watch it fresh, and some of my predictions even came true, plus quite a few surprises.

I remember when Marco Palmieri was editor of the “Star Trek” novels and said (paraphrasing) that he preferred the novels that polarized the readership since a story that pleased everyone would undoubtedly be a bit bleh.

Just finished. It fell really flat for me; the overall story wasn't bad but there were so many moments which jarred me right out of it. From undercutting the end of Q to cringe speeches to a shameless pitch for a new series...ugh. I enjoyed the first half of the season, but the second has been rough.
Unfortunately, the added weight on the bridge threw off the balance, making it prone to crash when separated from the stardrive.I actually prefer the bridge layout of the ST:Generations variant.
I do prefer the TV show format over movies, but Bridge design wise, I like the updated one more.
I just wish we got to see more of it, then the short instance of the movie.
By the way, is something missing from this pic? Somebody tell me it's my imagination.

We are VERY lucky fans that we got Picard. Nemesis could have been the end for this beloved crew. Now, we have a MUCH better conclusion to their story. Can't figure out all the hate for the Q cameo- he was there at the very beginning, and he's there at the very end. Appropriate. And Mr. Probert's Enterprise D is the winner and still champion in the most beautiful starship contest. Just look at the post above and change my mind.

Some how stayed away from Facebook, Twitter and any thing that might have spoiled it for me. Watched it last night after my wife came home from work.
I am glad I managed to stay away and not get spoiled, I was not disappointed. It had everything for me that I could want in the final episode. Loved that everyone seemed to get moments, and yep Troi got to drive without crashing. Loved the reaction of Crusher being at tactical and everyone just looking at her after she destroyed those turrets. I love the Data bit with trust me and my gut and then his comment followed by Troi asking what did he just say.
I have loved this entire season and it finished in a big way, for me this felt like it is how it should have been from season 1.
As for seeing the Enterprise-D, I got emotional and felt this was a better way for the ship to end than how it happened in Generations.
I am sure I speak for a lot of people on this board in that The Next Generation, Captain Picard and Crew and the Enterprise-D being their first Star Trek series and the show that they grew up with and fell in love with Star Trek, so to see this was so emotional for me and if my wife was a member and could see this post, she will tell you I geeked out hard seeing the Enterprise-D.
As to the future, who knows, I really want to see a Star Trek Legacy show with Seven, Raffi, Laforge and Jack Crusher... especially after the post credit scene and the fact that Terry Matalas said Jack's story isn't over... but who knows. For now its time to wait for SNW

As far as some of the criticisms of Raffi being Seven's first officer and how that shouldn't happen given their prior relationship .... there's no indication in prior canon that Starfleet has the same fraternization rules that the US Military enforces.
- Going back to TNG, Riker is over Troi as the executive officer of the Enterprise, even though they've had a prior, very serious relationship.
- The same thing goes for the Decker-Ilia relationship in The Motion Picture. If Kirk doesn't assume command of the ship, Ilia would would have been a member of the Enterprise's senior staff, with her former boyfriend/lover (Decker) being her commanding officer.
- Although never made explicit, I always took Deanna's position on the bridge of the Titan in Lower Decks as implying she's part of the senior staff, and may serve the same advisory "I feel deception" when communicating with an alien race role on the bridge under her husband's command.
- Starfleet sends the husband-wife team of Worf and Jadzia on a mission. However, that incident in Deep Space Nine is arguably evidence for why it's not a good idea, since Worf abandons the mission to save Dax, with Sisko implying the decision might be a permanent stain on his record.
The whole bit about expecting to die alone until he met Jack didn't exactly suggest that he had much interest in/hope for a relationship with Laris.
