On one hand it's nice he was alive and to see him, but on the other hand the whole kinda "and we found out that many of the replaced were kept alive for information." seemed like something Cobra would have done in GI Joe because they didn't want to have kids seeing the replaced Joe's were killed after being replaced by doppelgangers or something.
It makes sense considering the conversation Seven had with changeling Tuvok who seemed to know a lot. I think logically they would have done a "scorched earth" thing and just killed all the captives, but I'm glad they didn't do that.

It does feel like the whole "one year later" thing was an afterthough (and possibly added a scene too early as someone suggested further up the thread). If Seven was promoted to captain before the time jump, why is there a big deal made as if it's her first time taking the ship out?

If the last couple of scenes had only been days/weeks later, the only problem would have been Jack suddenly being an ensign, but everything else would have made more sense. Titan goes in for repairs, gets renamed, then Seven takes her out for the first time.

I give this episode a solid 9 (I never give anything a 10, because I don't believe that "perfection" is obtainable, when it comes to entertainment). I felt that the ending was too much like a "fan fiction" ending, to be the conclusion of a television season, but, overall, I was having the time of my life enjoying the show, like a kid attending a Saturday matinee screening (hence the score). Terry Matalas? You done good as a showrunner. You managed to both make existing characters interesting, while advancing their stories, as you introduced new ones. You pulled it off, and I hope that TPTB notices you by giving you more work within the STAR TREK franchise. Kudos!

That was in the past. But yes, I'm sure there are other dormant cubes out there if the writers really need them.

In the past of Picard yes, but it was after the pathogen that apparently decimated them. In fact that very cube was offline due to the pathogen - and then reactivated.

I liked it.

For me it wasn't quite the Best of Both Worlds but more Times Arrow, which by my definition is "it's not super complex storytelling or a cliffhanger" but rather "oh I need a two-part comfort episode which is fun and unique".

Generally enjoyed everything quite a lot. Without writing war and peace, my thoughts of the season/finale would be:
- the post-Borg/one year later part of the episode was a bit rushed / would have liked to have seen where everyone planned to go. It just seemed a bit disjointed. I also would have liked a bit of resolution of the Picard/Crusher story
- would have liked to have seen some legacy ships in action at the end as seen in the credits (oh well)
- I think as a fun "haha" Q could have been used as a last scene for the crew playing poker with a "the trial never ends" line or at least see him lurking in the background (but hey we saw him later so no biggy)
- I feel the pacing could have been better between episodes 7-10, parts of episode 9/10 could have been expanded while 7/8 could have been less drawn out
- a final montage shot of the Enterprise-D after they initiate the deactivation sequence would have been nice
- not a huge fan of the Titan name change (but not as irked as I thought I'd be). I just think we're oversaturating shows with ships named Enterprise. I also feel it's a little dismissive of the achievements and legacy of the Titan which made a name for itself this season. If they're honouring Picard why not name it after him if they want to change it?
- and lastly my biggest disappointment (but admittedly because of too much YouTube speculation) is that I'm sad we didn't see the Conspiracy bugs from the end of season 1 - I feel that would have made a much cooler story and alliance with the Borg (you could have effectively had the same scripts and it would have been a consistent link between the infiltration of Starfleet). It would have been also a good tie in with TNG villains rather than DS9, but hey, changelings are cool too.

Anyway, I really feel this rectified some of the parts of Nemesis I hated and showed Picards growth. Other than the space flowers in season 1 and the parts of season 2 that didn't involve Picards family/personal struggles, the whole show was good and I'm glad this happened.

I lost hope years ago that I'd ever see the TNG crew together again, let alone the Enterprise-D - so yay.

Crap I went full war and peace.

Y'know, I don't want to call the Borg Queen an idiot but if I had a years-long plan finally come to fruition, I'd maybe use a few of those ships I had control of to come and protect my ship from destruction.
That’s what I was expecting. I was thinking the Enterprise F would break formation and go after the D.

It seems obvious to me that the reason the Titan was a neo-constitution is because Terry planned for it to be rechristened the Ent-G and he wanted the Ent-G to have a familiar "enterprise look". So they did some hand waving to explain how the successor of a luna class suddenly looks completely different. But having the Ent-G be a Luna class would have looked "wrong".

My only nitpick for this finale is that it seemed to have too many epilogues. The ending kind of dragged a bit. I feel like you probably could have cut the whole scene on the bridge of the Ent-G with Seven and Jack bantering back and forth because the ship warps out. It felt a bit unnecessary IMO.

Eh, I thought the balance was okay, mainly because the epilogue was better than the climax.

Bad balancing was the last episode of Prodigy Season 1, where the crisis was resolved 1/3rd of the way into the episode, meaning the majority of the runtime was set aside to fond farewells and the like.

These Borg are from the upside down :D

I swear we saw an upside down one in TNG as well
