Oh so much to unpack here, but why bother? I'm 68 and I completely understand why young people are in despair. I only have to look around me. So, I choose to see this plot twist as merely an excuse to make saving the day reliant on our original cast. Who are (save LeVar) older than me.

This was my one quibble with the episode. As a father of two girls myself, there's no way I could be as nonchalant and light-hearted with my friends while my daughters are essentially held captive by cybernetic monsters.
Not far off. After Picard finishes, you have at least 10 more of Lower Decks, 10 more of Disco, 20 more of Prodigy, 20 more of SNW and at least 10 of SFA. That puts it at 953 including next week’s Picard finale.
Having been in several tension filled incidents during my years, I can assure you that a lot of folks turn to humor quite quickly just for their own ease of mind.
The TNG movies were terrible, too. So far, we have zero evidence that this cast could ever really pull off a hollywood movie. It was meant for serialized TV.

I they mention the kids right away —this is more professional compartmentalising as we have seen from these exact crew members time and again. Wailing and crying won’t get the kids back, so for now they are just doing what they do. They might spend a few minutes allowing themselves a positive, but they aren’t dragging their feet and weeping in their quarters for an hour — they’re breaking out the old ship, and attempting to get stuff done.
Same as when Picard was assimilated, or when Geordi’s mother was lost with her ship, or when, or when, or when… TNG is full of personal stakes stories, and every time they went at it *mostly* calm until the problem was solved.

For whom? Embarrassing implies a measure of shame but not everyone experiences it the same. Are you embarrassed by this? If so, why, as you have no responsibility with how this show was made?
Uh no actually it doesn't fit at all. There's nothing "genetic" about a red door. It's just poorly constructed trash.
I have commented regularly with valid discussion of the events and episodes (even this one which I haven’t seen all of yet) including discussing your points with you.
This post — responding to yours with such highly technical terms as dreck — is the first time I have even approached not doing so. I have yet to see how you conclude, objectively or decisively, that the writing this series has been the work of a hack. Not least as it’s actually, objectively, been the most joined up logical piece of writing I have seen in a Trek show in quite some time. Not since Voyager. Though I have not seen all of ENT, and dropped out of DSC and SNW (though the second was not related to its quality at least) so it’s possible more existed.
The dictionary definition of hack is "cut with rough or heavy blows." That's exactly what this is. The most rough, blunt, shallow, surface level dredged up old crap pieced together virtually randomly for your rube enjoyment.
They're objectively hacks. They can't come up with anything new. They can only badly piece together old junk.
You have not shown the standard as objective. Only subjective, as is the nature of art.
Any opinion around heart that claims objectiveness I will dismiss since the experience of art is subjective.
