We've seen the federation portrayed in a similar light during tng but instead it was them screwing their own people to appease the cardassians.

Yeah, TNG's 7th season is awash of bad ideas I also ignore. How many times did they make Data a serial killer in just one year? The Federation treatying away cloaking technology? Come on.

I don't like the DSC Enterprise being given a visual reboot just because of "modern audiences" but it's now canon that that's how she looked in 2256 and 2257. Whether or not we hold to a portrayal within this franchise is immaterial. It is.

Just like I can't push my ideas about canon on you, you can't do the reverse. If I want to only cite anything Roddenberry gave feedback on during his life I can. If I want to chuck one off faulty episodes I can. And I can make my case for both and you can reject it. But I can't make you agree. There's no "canon". There's just what we like and accept. And we can argue what means what and what doesn't work with the rest. That's what Jewish people do with the bible. You're telling me Paramount/CBS is more powerful than Yaweh?

They think Narek killed whats-her-name and it galvanized the rest to kill all humans (and Romulans, etc, etc). Sutra is Lore's daughter and she wants what she wants.

This thread got off to a bad start, and it was all downhill.

I liked this episode and enjoyed the quirky TNG stuff about it.

Some people found those elements annoying or thought the plot was scattershot/cliched.

Don't know why this thread has been so weirdly bitter.
