It's right up there with the rest of the speculations
  • It's the Iconians
  • It's Lore
  • The Enterprise (D or E)
  • Captain Worf!!!
Ninet in an no sign of any of them.
Iconians? You mean T’Kon?
It’s also E and F. We know what happened to the D.

Yeah but that would be something different. Not a mind meld.

Yeah, TNG's 7th season is awash of bad ideas I also ignore. How many times did they make Data a serial killer in just one year? The Federation treatying away cloaking technology? Come on.

Just like I can't push my ideas about canon on you, you can't do the reverse. If I want to only cite anything Roddenberry gave feedback on during his life I can. If I want to chuck one off faulty episodes I can. And I can make my case for both and you can reject it. But I can't make you agree. There's no "canon". There's just what we like and accept. And we can argue what means what and what doesn't work with the rest. That's what Jewish people do with the bible. You're telling me Paramount/CBS is more powerful than Yaweh?

If you are only going to only take about 1/4 of Trek to "cite," well, fine. But just don't be surprised when the majority of us bring up things from other parts of Trek, because I guarantee you that most people are going to use examples from those "non-Roddenberry" parts when discussing a topic.

One more question - I don't understand why did Sutra release the Romulan? And allow him to kill one of the androids?

She wanted to unify androids against organics and support her plan of summoning the Admonition synthetic dudes to wipe out the organics. And the consensus seems to be that Sutra is the one who killed the android but Narek took the blame which was part of the plan.

Saw the clip for episode 2, gives me hope for an awesome finale.. what are the odds of a Starfleet armada winding up during the final battle with Riker, Janeway, Geordi, Worf all commanding ships........ wouldn’t that be nerdgastically awesome??

I never told you not to. Please read what I wrote more carefully. Just don’t go telling me “it’s canon. I don’t like it either but you have to accept it.” It’s entertainment not history. You don’t have to acknowledge anything that doesn’t amuse you.

Let's take Picard out of the equation. Let's see how this works in practicality.

Random Poster: When did they ever travel back to the 1960s?

Lord Garth: In "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" and "Assignment: Earth", through the Slingshot Effect.

Random Poster: The Slingshot Effect is so stupid I don't acknowledge it! They never traveled to the 1960s!

Lord Garth: They did. I cited two episodes where they did.

Random Poster: I don't acknowledge it! I don't like it! It didn't happen. Your evidence is null and void.

Lord Garth: Okay...

Random Poster: I also don't like that they eat food that looks like real food in TNG.

Lord Garth: Why not?

Random Poster: Because in TOS they had colored cubes with celery! That's what they eat in Star Trek! It doesn't feel like Star Trek unless they do!

Lord Garth: So you ignored "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" and "Assignment: Earth" but not colored cubes on a tray?

Random Poster: That's right! I like them! They remind me of Starbursts!

Lord Garth: So what about when Picard orders "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot!" in TNG? That's one of the staples of the show.

Random Poster: And does he ever have Starbursts with his tea?

Lord Garth: No...

Random Poster: So I don't acknowledge it! I don't acknowledge tea in Star Trek!

Lord Garth: I'm going to have to drop out of this discussion.

Random Poster: Why? What's wrong? You can't take the heat.

Lord Garth: No, it's not that. But as Spock said in Star Trek IV, "It would be impossible to discuss the subject without a common frame of reference."

Random Poster: Star Trek IV? As far as I'm concerned they only made one Star Trek movie. Back in 1979.

Lord Garth: Someone please shoot me...

Factually he's not wrong. That's what the hardcore Roddenberry Vision enthusiasts can sound like. What doesn't fit that largely retconned and more fleshed-out and explained worldview isn't "real" Star Trek.

Star Trek didn't stop existing when DS9 premiered in 1993. Just sayin'.
