yep - doesn't make it a 5/10, thoughI mean, I get it.. Everyone is a superfan and they want to signal to their fellow forum dwellers that they are "on the team" or whatever, but.. I have a serious question for 45 people who voted "10/10".

I never go straight for the 10/10 it doesnt leave me any wriggle room if an even better episode comes along, I rated the first two episodes as 8/10 each, based on the idea that they really should be seen as one big pilot and the 2nd episode was pretty much what I expected from the piggy in the middle.
gave the first a 10/10 (purely hormonal) - #2 got your 8/10
I can certainly understand why you went straight for the 10, quite a few on this forum have been eagerly awaiting Picards release, same with Discovery when it was released.gave the first a 10/10 (purely hormonal) - #2 got your 8/10

If this episode that is nearly devoid of any meaningful events and is essentially a table-setting episode to fuel the rest of the season..
What do you rate "Best of Both Worlds"???
What do you rate "Tapestry"???
How about "All Good Things"?
..and "Chain of Command?
..not to mention "I, Borg"?
I'm honestly not sure if people are just being intellectually dishonest, or if they just don't understand the concept of a 1 - 10 rating system. If you rate something as boring, bland and uneventful as Season 1 Episode 2 of Star Trek: Picard a "10/10".. You are just making a mockery of the rating process.
Now, according to these 45 voters, "The Best of Both Worlds" (One of the greatest episodes of television science fiction PERIOD) is now on-par or WORSE than a forgettable, exposition-laced filler episode of Star Trek: Picard.
It just defies logic.
I can certainly understand why ...
okay. can please someone explain the 'new' expanation ? apparently i missed it.
It it is subjective.I mean, I get it.. Everyone is a superfan and they want to signal to their fellow forum dwellers that they are "on the team" or whatever, but.. I have a serious question for 45 people who voted "10/10".

thx - kinda forgot that
At least it got better in the middle for a while, IMO. Can't say the same thing for Voyager or Enterprise.
I was born at the end of 1980 so only a kid when it came out, TNG was slow to get going and the first season was hard work but it did serve an important purpose setting the scene and introducing all the characters which helped make the following episodes and seasons better.
darmok is certainly in my top three of all of trek - 'the worst' is supossed to mean as a showAt least it got better in the middle for a while, IMO. Can't really say the same thing for Voyager or Enterprise, both of whom I was compelled to abandon.
Some shows find their feet quicker than others, unfortunately those that don't tend to get cancelled just as they come good, which is one of the reasons I don't watch the Syfy channel any more as they always seem to cancel shows at just the wrong moment.
The last one was Dominion when they cancelled that I swore off the channel for good.

I consider neither Voyager or Enterprise to have provided me any episodes I wish to remember, so yes, that's terrible in my books. At least TNG has a handful worth remembering, although nothing compared to TOS or DS9 or DISCO so far. Can't be sure about PIC yet, too soon.
Oh I watched the 12 Monkeys all the way through just not on Syfy channel so I didnt really pay attention to where it was from, I streamed it instead. You missed some good stuff then. 12 Monkeys had a good full run, as did Killjoys both ending at their logical conclusions and were both above average scifi. The Magicians is still running fine and I expect it to do the same, and even though the Expanse was cancelled, it was picked up by Amazon so should finish when it should. IMO, Syfy isn't really any different than most networks.
distant origin? i admit it could have been done better
