I have never heard anyone* defend PIC2. It's generally held to be one of the worst seasons of Trek ever
I actually enjoyed S2 and thought it was, while uneven, a big step up from S1. But I realize most don't share that opinion. It had some issues in any case.
Did they know it was a finale before "filming" ?
I'm not sure the precise timeline, but what I've absorbed from different interviews is that McMahan knew that it was likely the finale, and they've made additional adjustments to lengthen it out since confirming it.

Per https://trekmovie.com/2024/10/23/in...e-season-5-star-trek-cameos-and-future-hopes/ :
So we knew it was gonna be the final season pretty early on in the writing process, and I kind of made a decision to move some stuff that I had planned forward.
Per https://www.awn.com/animationworld/...-star-trek-lower-decks-fifth-and-final-voyage :
I sat them down and was like, ‘Look, this is probably our final season, and we're not leaving anything on the table.’ I had conversations with Paramount+ and CBS about needing longer episode time on some of these segments, because if you want to have it feel like a satisfying finale it has to be so massive and beautiful. The finale is about eight minutes longer than any other episode.”

At least none of them have that "James Earl Jones in Rogue One vocal performance differences" thing going on. It's easy to overlook in later viewings but Vader sounding so much older than he did in the original film and in a story set mere days if not hours before said original film was jarring at first.

It could be Jolene (she uses first name only on Instagram; perhaps she does that elsewhere, too).
My only hesitation is... She sounds like what T'pol would have been if Jolene hadn't done the role - cold, one-note. The power of her performance on "Enterprise" was how her character developed - in sound, yes, facial expressions, etc.
Here's hoping - if it is her - she enjoyed doing this and could be convinced to appear on Connor's podcast...
It is her. Excluding her last name was requested according to Mike

Maybe not as jarring as Vader hacking through dozens of Rebel soldiers like an absolute monster, and then a few hours later having the world's slowest lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan

The thing is with Vader's slaughter in Rogue One is that you've got a bunch of rebel soldiers with no force abilities, that are little more than gun fodder in the grand scheme of things. Easily to slice and dice.

Vader vs Obi-Wan was way more about swordsmanship between two experts and testing your opponent's weak spots. There's a lot of cutting and parrying to try and get the advantage. It feels more like a real sword fight with all the point work, but I guess it just isn't that spectacular looking.

Anyway, sorry, Star Trek..:vulcan:

A ship full of Harry Kims is just hilarious, because it adds to the running gag of his being duplicated multiple times. (In both "DEADLOCK" and "DEMON"... but then, so has every other member of that crew, too.) Of course the 'still an ensign' gag is thrown in there, because it IS messed up. I do like his line about Ops officers never getting promoted... because that ALSO includes Data. (And his lack of promotion is even more egregious than Kim's.)
Lower Decks is actually pretty good about character promotions... except when they can make a joke about it. I won't pretend that I liked the fact that barring the appearance of "our" Harry in the finale, his canonical rank is permanently locked at ensign... but I guess I'm not surprised.
Having Harry back was great, my only minor quibble, and it might be just me, is that of all of them Wang's voice has changed the most, but there's nothing you can do about that.
He was still recognizable.
Oh do f off . Can't stand the snobbery around what American's call "bombs".
That's because we have new bombs now. I'll bet if someone used that word that rhymes with "trigger", or that other word that rhymes with "maggot", you'd be calling for them to be banned just like everyone else.

In the 19th century, it was the dreaded "big big D". In the 20th, it was the F-bomb. And in the 21st, it's hate speech. But Deplorable Words are forever.
