It was okay, but what really lifted the episode for me was that PH counted on Fed "redemption arc" attitude and "everybody deserves a second change" and all that sentiment, trying to abuse it and get what she wanted. I'm personally tired of redemption arcs being so often utilised in fiction that this plot of thwarting the whole notion by someone who tried to abuse it was refreshing.

"PH is selfish. Deal it it :nyah: " ;)

Best episode of Lower Decks to date . A 10. (This is as close to a real Rick & Morty episode as they've gotten and it was hilarious.)

And I LOVED how they flipped and completely discarded the 'mildly bad person makes good and is redeemed' Trek trope. That was great.

They now need to do a real Peanut Hamper & Agimus team up.:techman:

And besides, Peanut Hamper seemed to have a personality of a rebelious teenager for the most part and was 'acting out' mostly.
Still not sure if locking her up with other megalomaniac AI's was a good idea. I'd suggest councelling/rehabilitation if anything else, and only if she started exhibiting murderous intent, then lock her up with other megalomaniac AI's.

Threatening to summon "The Borg" to assimilate all the Organic beings nearby is effectively equivalent to a rebellious teenager acting out and doing ____ bad thing you hear in real life news media. As with IRL, eventually some teenager will follow through and nobody can risk that happening.

Sorry, locking Peanut Hamper up with the other Megalomaniac AI's in a Box was the correct thing to do from the perspective of us "Living, Sentient, & Sapient" Organics.

Take away all her wireless Radio & Subspace Radio Transceivers.
Strip her of her internal Replicator & Transporter.

Now Peanut Hamper is just a Computer with a Speaker & Blinky Lights in a husk of a Exo-Comp's body.

The only thing she'll have is that tiny box next to the other Megalomaniac AI's as her new home.

Season 4's new main villains =D

Exactly my point. I don't think she deserved to be placed in with the other 'evil AI's'... at least, not yet.

Well her plan is basically Agrimus level of evil. Manipulating whole civilizations to create a heroic rescue.

So, she went from 0 to 60 pretty quickly.

I'm just hoping that for all those evil AI's starfleet managed to capture and contain, there are other benevolent AI's out there.

Well we have the entirety of Picard season one as an example there.

I wonder what happened to both good and evil AI’s inside Federation space when the synthetic ban took effect? Was there a Federation-wide event where security forces went from door to door to exterminate every AI? Did the personnel of the Daystrom Institute head into the “evil computer” compartment with heavy weapons and melt Agimus & co to slag?

Or have her the main antagonist for a later season of Discovery, as she finally breaks out of the Daystom Institute in the 32nd century.
If Peanut stays in Daystrom confinement until 2385, then she won’t live to the 32c. Any person who is an AI was probably killed on sight by Starfleet.

It may be a small footnote or even a coincidence, but I found it interesting that all three main aliens on the planet were voiced by actors of Asian descent. Also, Lauren "Amy Wong" Tom was in a small role as the (ex-?) girlfriend, and was previously heard in LDS as Captain Nguyen of the USS Vancouver. :)

Honestly, that would go against their directive of how precious life (in any form) is... and they recognize that sentient AI's are in fact... sentient life.

It's one thing to ban synthetics, but its something else to exterminate the ones that are already under lock and key.
SF may have arranged to transfer the locked up AI's to someone else's care... or they simply set up an EM surge to deactivate them. Not delete or destroy them... just simply take them offline.

But you could be right. Considering that synths DID send 2 representatives to a SF ship Rios served on, and the captain gave the order to to destroy them once he realized they were synths (which to me didn't make sense... why not simply usher them back to their ship and ask them to leave?).

That was covered in the episode, Commodore Oh blackmailed Rios's Captain to kill them so as to advance the Zhat Vash agenda to eradicate all AI.

Which is another thing to consider, as head of Starfleet Security, Commodore Oh will undoubtedly arrange the destruction of all the Evil AI being held at Daystrom at some point, regardless if she has Starfleet consent or not. Though, she'll likely wait until after the Synth attack on Mars when it will take less convincing and less explanation and when others might even be eager to do this.

Hmm...structural integrity failure on the fourth wall. Erect Level 10 force field.

Boimler's having trouble saying the planet's name for some reason...

PEANUT HAMPER: Come on Captain! Let's beam out of this shithole!

I am frikkin' dying!:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

"My fecal matter has gone back to being oily and white."

Yup. Dying.

Peanut Hamper needs a spinoff show. This character is too caustic to languish in containment forever.
