Goes to show just how the polemic language aimed at people over 60 years old is used by younger minions to insult young contemporaries they don't like with a word that doesn't mean anything to their generation.

I still know older people who call blacks "colored" and "Negro" even after all these decades of polemic and semantic evolution and changes. To be sure, either of those are INFINITELY better than the N-word, but it's odd in the year 2007 to still hear "Negro" and "colored" come from some people's mouths. And every once in a blue moon I still hear "cracker" or "whitey" used by black people.

For all the "correctness" and "incorrectness" of terminology, I notice that the NAACP still has "Colored People" in its name.
