Hey, I like the Cage uniforms, especially if they to a tailored version of the landing party jackets. Most of the problem with the uniforms in The Cage is fitting and construction quality. Fix that and they will look great.

I'm sure the uniforms will look nothing like the ones worn in "The Cage."

    Then:
    1. It's not Starfleet.
    2. It is Starfleet but some other branch like Section 31. (bleh)
    3. It's just an excuse to take Star Trek and piss all over it again.

It might be Kelvin-era uniforms - they sort of adhered to the general look of the Pike ones.

Personally I would go with skin-tight poly-liquid-metallic cyberpunk jumpsuits.

I am hoping if they want to go with the TOS look, they do something updated like that. If they use the same stuff they used on TOS, its gonna looks awful

Er, no, that's not what I meant.

Of course it will be Starfleet. It takes place on a Starfleet ship.

How do we know that the uniforms worn by Pike's crew were the only uniforms being used at the time? Or perhaps they were being phased out and they hadn't had a chance to get the new ones yet?

And yes, there's the possibility that the Discovery might be a Section 31 ship, but it kinda defeats the purpose of a clandestine organization when your ship has a big "31" written on the hull.

Or maybe, just maybe, those uniforms in "The Cage" are butt ugly, and someone could come up with nicer looking uniforms in 2017 that don't look like they came from a Goodwill store in 1960?

They're not going to go from something out of The Martian to Pike's velour in 10 years. They should have used these uniforms in ENT.

The issue is, he is someone who wants that look. He wants it to look like some cheesy 1960's era show. I hope that look dies in a fire personally

RE: The Cage-- the women's collars were cool. The men's were terrible.

Glad you all know my opinion on that vital issue.

People who think a 2017 TV series will look like a 1964 pilot are nuts!

Nothing wrong with the Pike era uniforms. In many ways I like them better than the regular TOS ones. Just update the design a bit, get more elaborate rank insignia, and such things and it will work nicely. If you think about it, those shirts look a lot like the undershirts from the TWOK-TUC era, so have some different types of jackets as well. They even had jackets in The Cage.

I would like to see more functional varieties of uniforms. Jump Suits for the engineering teams. Something more protective for security. Medical scrubs, Science Lab equipment - alongside consistent dress and admiral level uniforms.

Not to mention Away Mission gear, and uniforms for various planetary conditions.

Progressing from Enterprise style jumpsuits, to proto Cage style uniforms.

If the red alert klaxons aren't kazoos. I'm not watching.

Ok maybe that's going a bit to far. I'm sure they could modify a kazoo sound so that it sounds basically the same but a bit more realistic/urgent.
