The female changeling said: “perhaps one day I'll come visit you”.

*I*. Not “we” or “someone that looks like me but isn’t exactly me”.

Since this whole issue seems to emerge from some creatively interpreted words in that episode let’s pick out some more words for the other side of the argument.

A basic application of Occam's Razor works the best in this scenario. Considering that the Female Founder is treated throughout the series as being the same person, having the same set of memories and the same personality and so on, which option is more likely? That she's actually the same person who enters and exits the Link at will, or that the Link is a singular organism that creates a completely new semi-independent drone five separate times (the one that meets Odo in The Search, Part II, the one that disguises herself as Kira in Heart of Stone, the one that comes to take Odo to the Link in Broken Link, a separate one that brings him out of the Link after he's been judged, and finally the one that arrives to Cardassia some time after they join the Dominion but before the wormhole is mined), who just so happen to have similar enough appearances and personalities to confuse Odo and the rest of the crew into believing they're the same person?

"No Changeling has ever harmed another" seems to indicate they view themselves as separate individuals too. And the Changelings who said that to Odo were practically always explicitly Founders and not one of the 100 who never knew the Link.

ODO: You haven't told me your name.
FOUNDER: What use would I have for a name?
ODO: To differentiate yourself from the others.
FOUNDER: I don't.
ODO: But you are a separate being, aren't you?
FOUNDER: In a sense.
ODO: When you return to the Link, what will happen to the entity I'm talking to right now?
FOUNDER: The drop becomes the ocean.
ODO: And if you choose to take solid form again?
FOUNDER: The ocean becomes a drop.
ODO: Ah, yes. I think I'm beginning to understand.
FOUNDER: Then you can answer your own question. How many of us are there?
ODO: One. And many. It depends on how you look at it.
FOUNDER: Very good. You are beginning to understand. But there's so much you don't know.

How does that mesh with later portrayals of the Dominion?

There's only, Deep Space Nine after "The Search" IS NOT REAL TREK.

Stay tuned for my youtube video on how Heart of Stone DESTROYED THE TIMELINE and how Trek WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, just after Ira is fired.

I love the new gunpowder transformation visualization they use now for shapeshifting!!! It looks less an early computer animation and more a practical effect created by aligning iron filings! Awesome!

But methinks the Changelings should watch Jurassic Park films and think raptor, not Tribble.

Too bad he had no reason to panic: we still hasn’t got how he was cheating or how he knew it was time to run.

I watched this episode a second time and liked it a lot better. I think it has some pacing problems which become less problematical on repeated viewings.

I also liked that Haz guy better the second time around. He used a lot of interesting phrases.

I give this episode 6 Andys #STTNC

The poker game was fun, the season needed to have fun.
Liked the fight scene.
Dialog still poorly written.
