It seems like despite their lack of names the Link is a group of individual linked consciousnesses, otherwise there wouldn't be a 'her' who could choose to take solid form again.

A basic application of Occam's Razor works the best in this scenario. Considering that the Female Founder is treated throughout the series as being the same person, having the same set of memories and the same personality and so on, which option is more likely? That she's actually the same person who enters and exits the Link at will, or that the Link is a singular organism that creates a completely new semi-independent drone five separate times (the one that meets Odo in The Search, Part II, the one that disguises herself as Kira in Heart of Stone, the one that comes to take Odo to the Link in Broken Link, a separate one that brings him out of the Link after he's been judged, and finally the one that arrives to Cardassia some time after they join the Dominion but before the wormhole is mined), who just so happen to have similar enough appearances and personalities to confuse Odo and the rest of the crew into believing they're the same person?
"No Changeling has ever harmed another" seems to indicate they view themselves as separate individuals too. And the Changelings who said that to Odo were practically always explicitly Founders and not one of the 100 who never knew the Link.

The great link is just like the borg collective: it has a single consciousness when the members are linked together, but once they separate they revert to being individuals, the big difference being that the founders are much better at doing this transition.

I love the new gunpowder transformation visualization they use now for shapeshifting!!! It looks less an early computer animation and more a practical effect created by aligning iron filings! Awesome!

You have to admit, a raptor would clear a room pretty quickly. It's a size the Changeling could manage.

The poor Changeling was simply too complacent. It panicked and couldn't think of a better form to escape with!
It's almost like panic caused a freeze reaction. If only we had some term for it.
You could clearly see it thinking the word, "Solids!"

God, that was such a dumb episode. A great example of how Berman Trek writers knew nothing about evolution at all.
