Maybe if they do the Borg differently this time and change them thoroughly, instead of just bringing them back, they might become great to watch again.
It's been over 700 years since their last appearance, so a lot of things might have changed about them...
Most of the problem with the Borg in Voyager wasn't that they used the Borg so much but more what they have done with them imho.
I think might still be possible to make them fascinating to watch again.

There is nothing great about the Borg. They are a thoroughly exhausted, highly 1 dimensional, villain.Maybe if they do the Borg differently this time and change them thoroughly, instead of just bringing them back, they might become great to watch again.

That's also what some say about the Klingons. But there are also some of us who liked what was done with them in Season 1...

The Klingons have had s varied history throughout Trek. The Borg haven't.
That's just franchise history and no reason for not bringing them back and do them differently.
If one thinks about this issue just in context of how species appeared in the past and doesn't allow change, there wouldn't be anything new in Star Trek ever. Just the same old stories again and again...
There is no lore reason to bring the Borg back. They are a cancer, to be eliminated and nothing more.
pretty much, however that was twenty years ago, there is no reason they can’t be used again one day.
those are pretty much the best borg appearances, but some of the voyager ones weren’t bad either and the enterprise one was surprisingly good imho, nonsensical as it was.
Something I’ve always wanted to see is the borg being really brutal, with them assimilating a planet and so on, perhaps in a movie a bit like Aliens. Not a route I’d want Star Trek to go everyday, but could be interesting to see for something like a movie, they closest they went to this was with first contact and even that was somewhat limited in this regard.
Regarding discovery, I can’t imagine them using the borg until Picard is over with them, so it won’t happen before a couple of years, if ever.
I would find that idea downright disturbing. It would not appeal to me as part of Star Trek. The reason the Borg don't work in Trek is Trek attempts to create mutual cooperation, respect for differences in culture, etc. The Borg are the antithesis of that.

Huh. Even though Tarka didn't tell anything specific to Owo, the way he got emotional and his vague allusions to the weight of his loss were actually quite telling, and raise a whole lot of questions. He definitely seems to be a person so deeply broken by his grief that he's dead set on his course and will stop at nothing from achieving his goals.
Was his story about crossing into the idyllic alternate universe they've found with his friend a lie or was at least a part of it true? Is he originally from that alternate universe and is planning to use the detonation of the DMA to go home, not giving a damn what happens to this one after he has crossed over? Does he count for the possibility of 10-C retaliating and just doesn't care or did he genuinely not even consider the possible consequences of his actions?
Now that I'm thinking of it, all this is giving off similar vibes to Dr. Soran from Generations. I definitely don't think the Nexus would be involved as nothing seems to point to that, but the same idea of setting the whole galaxy on fire if that would get me my happy ending definitely seems to be there for me.
And, oh well, I'm missing Tilly. Guess I'll have to prepare for the eventuality that she'll get one single guest appearance before the end of this season before unceremoniously being written out to helm her Starfleet Academy series that'll take its permanent rented place in development hell next to the Section 31 one.

To me I think we should expect that not every species or culture out there is interested in mutual cooperation or respect.
Which would be fine if they want to be left alone. The Borg do not.

Actually it's more like, the Borg are simply too powerful. If they were actually as badass as they seemed, they would have destroyed or assimilated everything, with ease.
So in order for the Borg to ever lose, and thus actually have drama in an episode, the writers have to keep watering them down and weakening them. That's why later Borg episodes tend to suck.
And even when the Borg DON'T suck, like ST:FC, they have to come up with shit like the "Borg Queen" (which goes against everything the Borg are supposed to stand for) just to artifically create a singular antagonist.
Which is why the Borg will never appear on DSC. At the rate they're going, they'd be so weak by the 32nd century that they couldn't assimilate a turkey.

There's nothing wrong with crying over something you like.
Emotions are a natural part of life, supressing them is unhealthy.
