And now after that episode/ending, I’ll be up all night waiting for Ready Room to post to see the interview with Mary Wiseman.
Mary is on there this week, I think? We may get some needed context on her status going forward.

Sasha looked familar. I thought it was one of the Wonder Twins from Smallville but she would be too old now.
Seeing Cronenberg in this just feels so strange. Seems like too big of a name to be in this. I’m curious if he will direct an episode one day.
So I imagine Earth is next? I would love if they didn’t want to join up again. They would be like, we created it last time. Let someone else handle it. We want to make something new.

Me too! Plus, we'll presumably get a clip from next week's episode, which is kind of funny seeing as, last I checked, we still have no idea what it's even called.
I'm interested in the Ni'Var political situation and how things develop between Saru and T'Rina. That was one of those moments I could've predicted but was also one where I thought, "It's about time!"
All I know is I don't squee often in life, but those two are a pair.
Sasha was played Amanda Arcuri. I’m not familiar with her previous work, but according to IMDb she’s been in several recent iterations of Degrassi.
I feel the same as you both. It was so fun seeing them interacting with each other. Burnham giving Saru a hard time, and T’Rina just asking him for tea in front of everyone were both such great moments.

Not a bad little episode, probably my least liked of this season so far, but it wasn't bad at all. Like so many episodes this season, we get multiple plots and I actually wish that each of them (Well two of them) could have been their own episode. I know that's definitely not something that can happen with a show getting 13 episodes versus the old standard 26.
I really enjoyed Tilly's final scene with Michael. I also really appreciated the bridge that Michael can be between the Federation and Ni'Var. This is in my opinion perfect place for her to be part of the solution that feels completely organic to who she is.
And I am really, really enjoying the Federation and Ni'Var's president. In fact so far, I have really enjoyed some of the reoccurring characters that were created in season 3 and so far in season 4.
I miss the bridge crew, but with covid protocols it makes perfect sense that if you don't need them specifically for the story then you don't add the headache (and cost) to the production. But I really felt their loss in Tilly's departure as she seemed fairly close to them in a way that Saru and Micheal for the most part aren't. But one scene, again that's a big production headache.
Production wise, I am not loving the generic Starfleet location they are going to so far this season. But the scenes on the planet were exceedingly nice looking.

The musical montage in that final minute or so was beautiful and reminiscent of the end of Gattaca with Adira looking up into the stars as Tilly's shuttlecraft warped away. I rewatched the end sequence four or five times. Wonderfully put together. The musical score with hints at the Discovery main theme thrown in was extremely well done.
I enjoyed the episode a great deal. Sort of like Discovery's Lower Decks. Too many licks, not enough comps (too many plots, not enough depth)
I'm not sure what future they have for Tilly, the crash story was really thin. Mary Wiseman is charming, which at least made her character interesting. Tal being her Mini Me was not, nor were the two-dimensional NPC cadets on the shuttle. The cadets were given nothing with which to work. The story smashed Galileo 7 and Ascent without doing anything new.
The politics story was somewhat interesting, but neede elaboration. And it needed more Saru sexy time.
There was little new on the Book front. I'm sure he will be back to moping in the next episode. And the next one. And the next one ...

This is a good episode, especially for what it tries to do, but for me it never makes it past good. For example, I love the idea that the best way to resolve differences and to truly see others is through dialogue. However, the idea that two ensigns hate each other to the point of physical violence based upon racism (speciesism) only to end up walking essentially arm-in-arm because Tilly mentioned that one of their parents was an activist felt very contrived.
Similarly, I had a bit of a problem with the Human/Vulcan alliance being endangered because the Ni'var don't believe that the Federation will have their best interests at heart and the solution is a committee?!? Perhaps I have spent too much time working for large corporations, but my experience with committees are that they are largely ineffective. I can't see anyone (especially experienced and jaded politicians) truly thinking having a monthly committee meeting will somehow ensure that the Federation is treating all of their member worlds fairly.
Because the show was enjoyable and the message was a good one (open dialogue is a good way to resolve differences), but because the overall plot felt rather underdeveloped, I settled on a "7" rating for this one.

Tilly side of things in the downed shuttle was very by-the-numbers.
Book and Culber I'd give a thumbs up.

Tilly leaving was unexpected. I was a Tilly fan earlier on, but I'm not too cut up about her departure.
Anyway ... damn, that almost felt like an ensemble show. I've said it before, but whenever Discovery is more balanced / less Burnham-centric, it's preferred. I'm sure it won't last once they put their foot down on the anomaly plot. Hope to be proven wrong.
-- Gray - what's the deal with his memories? If I were to hazard a guess, the writers are going to skip over the whole "losing the symbiont's memories" bit.
-- Will all of Burnham's Captain's log be in slow-mo? I hope they snuck in a lense flare.
