The way Spock's recommendation was worded, only those Starfleet officers who know about the events of the last several episodes should be forbidden from ever speaking about USS Discovery, its crew, and the spore drive. That doesn't mean that anybody who ever heard of Discovery or knew its crewmembers are forbidden to talk about them.

One thing to keep in mind is that Spock's recommendations here are not gospel. He is only a lowly Lieutenant and not a policymaker. We shouldn't assume that Starfleet is going to follow his word to the letter.

yeah, only way it makes any sense is to basically just classify Season 2. Classifying that it existed is silly (and impossible), but easy to pretend the ship and crew blew up (preferably by rogue S31 agents) instead of travelled into the future. That's the only part you need to cover up, the disposition of the ship and crew, not that they ever existed at all. No red angel, no Control, no travel to the future.

How and why do you classify the rest? Battle of the Binary Star, Klingon War, Mutiny, all good. I'd just let the Spore Drive lay low (experimental thing that didn't pan out, happens all the time), and I'd not mention the Mirror Universe bit, other than that, good to go. Until they randomly were destroyed on a mission by Section 31. Case closed.

make it a warpcore failure - no need to bring in an organisation that is to be turned upside down - and 2 ships (out of 2) that go south for technical reasons are quite a motivation to shred the blueprints

My headcanon regarding Section 31 is that this whole unpleasantness with Control will not stay a secret for long. I'm saying headcanon because it makes a bunch of assumptions about the Federation's news media, public discussion and the free flow of information which we don't really know much about.

But I suspect that something will get leaked, news organizations will get some juicy scoop, and Starfleet Command eventually starts getting some very specific questions, while conspiracy theories are springing up like mushrooms all over the comms about possible connections to the mysterious disappearance of the Starship Discovery, the Enterprise requiring extensive repairs again a few weeks after spending some time in drydock, and Starfleet listening stations catching comm chatter from a Klingon fleet headed in the same direction as the Enterprise.

Starfleet will eventually have to make a statement to settle the scandal, and the easiest thing they can do is to shift the whole blame to Section 31, exposing enough of the truth to calm down the mainstream public. They will, in my headcanon, admit that Section 31 has developed a threat-assessment AI for them that they promised could inform all of Starfleet Command's strategic decision in a few years. The AI went haywire, hijacking the identities of recently deceased flag officers (or they might even admit it killed them outright) and issued fake orders in their names, forcing the Enterprise to shut it down. Section 31's operations will be suspended indefinitely and in-depth official inquiry will be started to assess whether the decisions informed by their AI have harmed the Federation's strategic interests.

As for the Starship Discovery, it was lost with all hands in an unrelated incident due to a catastrophic anti-matter containment failure. Section 31, of course, will be reformed off the books.

Anybody know the name of the Admiral (I'm guessing he was an Admiral because of his shoulder piping) who was debriefing Number One, Spock and the others? And why did they never show his face?

Fun fact: One of the crewmembers of the Klingon cleave ship is named K'vort - one day to have a class named after him, no doubt. ;)

Also, what happened to Nhan? Is she still alive on the Discovery?

Agreed.

There are at least three different news networks operating in the Federation (Earth Broadcasting Service, Starfleet Broadcasting, and Federation News Network) so I'm guessing they would be all over this.

...

I know that he's a robot. Only a robot would manage to stay strictly at the same place for the time it took to interrogate all these people, I mean he didn't even get up to pee or stretch his legs, otherwise, his chair would have moved a bit...

Pike: "But what happens now to what's left of Control?"
Investigator: "We have top men working on it right now.
Pike: "Who?"
Investigator: "Top.... men."

*ominous music starts and we cut to Tyler in a full Section 31 uniform, carrying a suspicious flashdrive in a place not unlike the archives from Into Darkness*

Nhan might still be alive. She seemed incapacitated after the fight but she could always have recovered later.

True, we never see her during the final confrontation with Leland, but Georgiou may have just wanted to handle it on her own.

does he have a moustache?

I can't imagine Nhan leaving a fight of her own accord, that's why I think that she was either disabled or dead. So she could still be alive but it's odd that we never got visual confirmation of that.

Of course Nhan would always want to join the fight, but she could have been hurt and unable to do so. She doesn't strike me as reckless, just dedicated. So for all we know she's recovering in sickbay.

And I'm actually liking the idea that Georgiou wanted to face Leland one-on-one in the end. That's entirely in character for her. Georgy wouldn't want to share her revenge with anyone.

Nhan didn't look particularly dead to me. Maybe leaving her fate open ended depending on actor or story plans.

It's strange that I can't remember how she left the fight. Do you?

It's like one moment she was there and the next she wasn't...

i bet we see commander nhan on a stretcher. the question is where that stretcher is headed - morgue or sickbay
