I said that after 'the Red Angel', now I'm pretty sure it will not make sense at any point. The actions the RA and Control take simply are completely illogical. The Control could have done absolutely nothing, and would have gained access to the sphere data, when Discovery delivered it for the Starfleet to research. And the RA just makes no sense, she is hopping about bizarrely, but somehow utterly fails to actually do anything that would help her main goal, i.e. stopping the Control.

And how did Harry Mudd's use of his own time crystal end up working for him? As far as I can tell, Mrs. Burnham's time travelling is what is responsible for the problem of Control that they are facing.

Also, it was established the reason Spock was special was his dyslexia allowed him to communicate with Gabrielle - not that he was Michael's adopted brother. This is stupid, but it still shows that their connection wasn't the important thing here.

doubleplusnope - some thoughts:
  1. if i were gabrielle - i'm not i'm gabriel (that's really one of my names) - the first thing after running i do is to look for my baby
  2. i check on her new life bigly
  3. i find a dyslexid kid that can see me
  4. that dyslexid kid is the ideal vehicle to protect my daughter (short of going public alltogether)
you see? that connection brought her to spock - he should sue her for abusing him as a child ;)

...,with all the usual Star Trek metaphors gushing around about absent parents, relationships damaged by trauma, substance abuse, and time apart, and an adopted child's questions about their past...

That's an indictment right there.

The only people in Trek who have a stable, long-term relationship are the O'Briens, and they happen to be the only pair of characters in one series to migrate to another and actually have more to do afterwards if you don't count Worf.

:vulcan: sarek and amanda? it may be weird or (in my view) even frightening, but it's definately strong and stable

I'm a little meh about the suit being 23rd century tech still because why does it take the Federation at least 4 more centuries (give or take) to come up with stable Time Travelling tech. It all seems to far for this point in canon but then again Discovery has never truly cared about that anyway. I was hoping it was future tech found by her mum and a team of scientists who worked on it as a project before the Klingon's attacked.

Also that Control thing did reek of Borg nano-probes, a route I hope to be very wrong about.

Some people are wondering how Control knows about nanites, I have only skimmed the thread so apologies if it's been said before.

Control would have access to all the information that the Federation had on the Borg from the "Regeneration" episode of Enterprise, including the nanites and Phlox's cure.

I enjoyed much of this and was expecting Burnham to end up in the suit instead of her mother so was glad it didn't happen

I enjoyed hearing proper old school technobabble in this episode too, and although it didn't end on a cliff-hanger I found I really wanted to go straight into the next episode.

I still don’t understand why Dr. Burnham brought the sphere to Discovery so they would protect or delete the data. The sphere was dying when it trapped Discovery. If it died, the data would be lost, and no problem.

Why didn’t Dr. Burnham use her abilities to keep everyone away from the sphere and just let it die?

Here's a thought: Why did she use the same catchprase about the "mission" that Control also used?

She indicated that she tried many things with the Sphere, including killing it. Nothing worked. Apparently, events conspired to find a way for Control to obtain the data. We are to assume that whatever alternatives you're thinking of did not work.

After trying other things, she brought the Sphere to Discovery hoping they could protect the data. So far, Control has not obtained the full data.

Oh you know Borg are coming. Next episode they are going to have Lealand say "resistance is futile" as a "valentine" to Star Trek fans...
