VOY: Flashback

Discovery is a little different because it's almost playing in the same field as TOS so its going to weave with it a bit here and there.

Except with the other series (save Enterprise which I personally have voided) deal with TOS future (TOS being the baseline) and the risk for Discovery's constantly interweaving itself with TOS is that they end up diminishing it. The Federation covers a lot of space and has trillions of character possibilities and stories to tell. There is simply no reason (other than fear) for them to feel this compulsion that they must constantly invoke TOS. Sooner or later it will kick them in the butt.

9/10 from me. Loved the Talos IV setup. If Pike doesn't get his own series,I'm going to be pissed.
I will be very surprised if CBS does not at least try, a lot is going to boil down to contracts and whether or not he wants it, same goes for Peck and Romijn.

They could easily launch the new show from Discovery with the unveiling of the newly repaired Enterprise.

You know, I've been thinking. With Talosian technology, they could give Pike a better "body" than he had.

Yeah, if Pike doesn't get his own show, he can just transfer over to the Picard show by getting fed up with the Talosians after 135 years and deciding to rejoin Starfleet. As the only Captain in Starfleet older than Picard, he becomes a mentor figure.

RANT
Pike deserves a better fate than he got in The Cage just because the 1960's production changed actors or something
RANT OVER

And I thought he would surely go upwards upon his passing.

I'd be happy even if they just did some miniseries or an occasional tv movie with them. I think, if by the end of the season, they actually show a physical set of the bridge of the Enterprise, I think the chances are high some type of a follow-up
