You know I'm still waiting to hear the full story about the Buran. For a couple of weeks people were debating theories about what could have happened with Lorca. Before we pass any judgement's let's wait and see if he was shunted into a shuttle against his will and that is why he survived. We don't know the full story. Still waiting. We wouldn't be making up stuff if they simply, oh I don't know, supplied a complete plot here and there.
Most modern shows have long running plotlines, questions and mysteries. Season Seven of Game of Thrones resolved a question raised in the series pilot.
It isn't expected, or considered a good thing, to tie everything up with a bow each week with nothing unresolved or left til later. The days of Voyager style self contained standalones are over.

Unfortunately, if you don't like something...you're not going to like it no matter what happens. You're going to find every reason in the world to rationalize your opinion...ESPECIALLY if your opinion is a minority opinion and you find yourself seeking affirmation and recognition ("THE WRITERS WILL READ MY COMMENTS AND CHANGE THINGS FOR MEEEEEEE!!!!").

Different, conflict-based arc built on a slow-burn of character self-discovery?? NOPE! Too different! Too grim dark! Gene's Vision! NotMyStarTrek!

Show with the same, episodic, rose-colored hope for humanity with morally superior and infallible characters?? NOPE! Stale...repetitive and derivative! Can't they go in a new direction?? BermanTrek rip off!! NotMyStarTrek!

Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it's why some of these habitually / relentlessly "negative on DSC" posters are better just ignored. The fans of the show can debate if Tyler is Voq, if Lorca is a Section 31 Mirrorverse sociopathic Klingon agent, if the Spore Drive is teh sux, and who their favorite character is...and that's great discussion regardless of what side you come down on. It's productive, meaningful, and in the spirit of enjoying the entertainment as presented to us.

Every one is entitled to an option, but I'm not sure what the motivation of some of these people is though, given that they continuously post the same exact negative opinions over and over again just expressing dislike about every aspect of the show. What does this actually accomplish? I'm not even sure how to interact with such a poster at this point. Again, I do think it comes down to their (somewhat misguided) belief that "my opinion on TrekBBS will be seen by the showrunners and they will change the show more to my liking." Unfortunately, since the vast majority of the posts are constructive/positive and engaged in debating the specifics of the arc, characters and plot of the show...if there were actually producers here reading, they are far more likely to read those kinds of posts, and filter out the relentlessly and incessantly dismissive "why isn't this show more like MY STAR TREK" kinds of stuff.
Let me make myself more clear since you decided to quote me to make your point. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on the show, negative or positive, but you are not entitled to tell people they should be ignored or to make your entire post complaining about another poster or certain types of fans instead of just discussing the show. You are free to personally ignore whomever you please, but don't encourage others to follow suit, and don't get personal. We're not here to shut down dissenting opinions. Capisci?

Also, your opening premise is wrong. I didn't like the show through the first four or five episodes but started enjoying it more after that, so you're not necessarily stuck in your ways permanently or always looking for a way to rationalize a negative opinion.

Respectfully...I wasn't trying to shut down a dissenting opinion. I simply question the wisdom of engaging in debate with anyone who has not demonstrated the ability to discuss the subject in a constructive manner or to have a change of heart. Some people have that capability, some people do not. I personally think you can tell the difference most of the time.

I don't mean to be flip or challenging, but, quite honestly, that is MY opinion. I'm not sure why it's viewed to be hurtful or detrimental to the smooth functioning of the board any more than someone who is constantly and relentlessly unconstructive about the subject matter.

Apologies, but that's how I feel about it.

Nonetheless, message received. I'll discontinue encouraging others to ignore this kind of behavior.

Alright, fan theory time. After doing some perusing in Memory Alpha, I came across a TOS race that only appeared once, but may have a major impact on the future of Discovery, the Medusans! Seeing as how Stamets' involvement with the spore drive may be offline, and since I'm thinking we may be getting closer to the prime universe, by way of the mirror universe, and since the Medusans are renowned for their navigational abilities, I'm thinking they may re-introduce this enigmatic race. They seem almost perfectly suited for the role, and since they're non-corporeal energy beings, could likely handle the stresses of interdimensional travel than Stamets or even the tardegrade. Just plug one of their little boxes into the nav system and voila! Ticket to ride...

That's an awesome idea, but since we and the writers know that there has to be a story reason for spore drives to disappear by the time that we get to TOS, I doubt that the writers are looking for ways to make spore drives more workable. ;)

It was a storyline in Tyler's past. Supposedly... if he is Tyler. Being imprisoned, tortured and abused is how we met him. It has shaped his PTDS and meant a lot to him when he was opening up to Michael. It is the basis to how he is going to relate to L'Rell.
No it was a rapid series of short shots edited together that lasted a minute or so. Not the same thing as a flashback storyline that's the focus of an episode. At best it's the setup for for a flashback episode that will expand on what was seen.

That only convinces so far, when they are leaving more stories up in the air or abandoned than finishing. Do it a couple of times - fine. Do it as much as Discovery is and it's like the writers never intended to follow through.

The show isn't even close to being over yet. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

More of an acid flashback. Distorted, confusing visuals. Was it torture, was it massive reconstruction?
It's hard to imagine they could do that much plastic surgery and have him looking OK by the time Lorca found him, unless the Klingons stole some Fed medical equipment form the dead fleet.
I do think it was disturbing and I think the way it lead to Tyler talking to Michael and having to reveal something so sensitive and degrading was a brave moment.

I was like probably the biggest LOST fan out there. I get the ebbs and flows and fill in the gap moments. Hopefully certain things haven't been left and this new part of space they are in isn't a complete redirection.

I've a feeling they will be back home by season's end with a new cliffhanger. Perhaps one connected to these things you assume are "forgotten".
