What about it? Surely you've watched enough of these types of shows to know that even the tiniest slip of a woman can defeat a big strong man.
Except he kicked her ass - easily too. He was toying with her. She did get a lick in, but the outcome was never in doubt. had she not been Transported out, I'm sure Kol would have been dining on her later (Had his ship not been massively Torpedoed and him killed as a result. ;))

I have been trying to understand why no other officers would volunteer to do genetic manipulation to share the workload with Stamets. It's a ship FULL of scientists - no one but Stamets wants to know what it's like to be in the mycelial pathways?

I also don't understand why for the past two episodes Lorca is acting like Burnham's father. What happened that he's so overprotective of her?

I really enjoyed this episode - gave it a 9. But I am NOT understanding why we are getting ready to have our third different show one season (so far).

QT
Because what Stamets did was 100% illegal and forbidden by Earth law. (IE Genetic manipulation is outlawed on Earth due to the Eugenics Wars of the 1990ies.) HOWEVER because he didn't have permission and did it in violation of said law, AND Saru gave Burnham the order to "Save the Tardigrade's life..."; and she did so by releasing it; Starfleet had two options - LOSE use of the Spore Drive; or give Stamets a pass (IE do not arrest/prosecute) - but he was it - the one Guinea Pig to see if the Drive was usable/feasible long term.

Had this not been a war situation, they probably would have court martialed him.

Denmark and Britain more or less at the same time ended the slave trade.

And what did the UK (who were at one time the largest slave trader in the world) do after ending their slave trade? Hmm? They continued to profit from slavery in the US. They then decided to go on a moral crusade "police" their anti-slavery by gunboat diplomacy, which morphed "regime change". As well as being the largest slave trader in the world, they also managed to rape and masscure their way into owning 2/3rds of the globe. They continued to advance the idea that the they were morally superior and generally more superior than those folk in the dark dominions. The repercussions of these activities and those attitudes reverberate to this day.

I think perhaps more people should read the unvarnished history, not the sanitised version they teach in school.

There's no indication whatsoever that the DASH drive manipulates time. They mentioned alternate universes, not time.
There was the one scene in Ep 3, where Lorca shows Michael the drive and we see what could be a view of the Guardian of Forever next to an intact temple. If true, that's clearly in the past, as the temple was nothing but ruins in "CotEoF". That would imply a possible traversal of time and space.

I thought she was toying with Kol. She knew she had to kill time, and if she did kill him, the others would have descended on her and/or gone to warp.

I AGREE that time could also be a factor. Tilly a captain in one would be years older possibly. This link talks about possible time travel for Discovery.

Indeed. I think she had only 2 objectives in the fight, grab Georgiou's badge and stay alive long enough for the beam out.. SM-G confirmed that Burnham was mostly dodging as a fight strategy, on After Trek.

We have absolutely no evidence of that.
No, but that's exactly the kind of thing Starfleet would probably do if they wanted to get his crazy ass off the bridge of the Discovery. Even if it wasn't their intention, it might have ended up being the net result of that award anyway (it happened to Kirk, after all).

Week before we see L'Rell cowering to Kol, this week Mighty Michael holds her own. Yeah right.

Apples and hand grenades.

The former wanted more power and protection for her house in the face of a ruling leader. The latter came looking for a protracted fight to buy time for her mission. Two completely different motivations, leading to two completely different situations.

Kol is a young General, raised in a time of peace.

It's more likely that he is a politician, and strategist than extremely battle hardened at hand to hand.

Michael has proven she can fight, remember her giving out that lunchroom smack down? However, let's introduce the concept of er.. weight divisions. Not to mention he was fighting on home turf with a weapon of his choice. It looked totally contrived that Michael did that lame little run at him and didn't bounce off him like a cartoon character, that was after he had already tossed her. If nothing else the staging of that scene was amusing.

It's hard to imagine that humans and this version of Klingons would even be capable of reproducing together at all. Even TNG said "the DNA is compatible, with a fair amount of help."
