This is gonna turn out to be Majel's character.
What was Majel's character doing on the Enterprise for the Talos mission when she was already XO on the Shenzhou for five years before (and two years after)?

The one question I have is what is up with that robot head lady? That is ... interesting...
Sarek is fine. But Frain is a dud. He lacks the necessary screen presence for such a strong-willed character. And the Vulcan stoicism eludes him. I'd take Ben Cross in a heartbeat.
Just because you like it doesn't mean people can't have complaints. The first episode was 90% crap. That's not being negative, that's calling it like I see it. The 2nd episode is much better. Much more engaging, and not a bore-fest.I don't remember the initial response to Broken Bow being overexaggerated complaints about meaningless crap, which is what 90℅ of this negativity amounts to.
Timey wimey weebly wobbly. I don't know the answer, but I really got the impression that this would become Pike's Number One.What was Majel's character doing on the Enterprise for the Talos mission when she was already XO on the Shenzhou for five years before (and two years after)?

The characters all still talk what one story editor at TNG used to call "the stilted Star Trek language."
I remember thinking, 'how can Scott Bakula be so awesome and charismatic as Sam Beckett and so dull and irritating as Jonathan Archer?'

That might be the problem--unfair or not. Lenard was one of those guys who owned every frame he was ever in. Balance of Terror would not have been the same without him.I liked Frain on Gotham, but I'm not feeling his Sarek. Not a pinch on Mark Lenard.
Yup. I gave Bow much higher marks. Honestly, I can't think of a weaker Star Trek pilot. I mean there were only five (Six if you include Cage.) And they're all better than this was.Broken Bow was the greatest first episode of a Star Trek series ever. The first season of Enterprise was not-so-great, but it's first episode was amazing, timey-wimeyness and dull Archer included.
Here's hoping that the first season of Discovery reverses that prospect.
I do everything to avoid spoilers and trailers. And what does space do. Put tones of footage, interviews and in-depth discussion RIGHT BEFORE the show. ... I didn't show up on time to get all these spoilers! Arg!
Ok, not spoilers but you know what I mean I wanted to know as little as possible so it would all be a surprise.
Blame American football, if Space hadn’t simulcasted with CTV it wouldn’t have happened. This is why I'm not getting cable back just to see Discovery on Space.
