The only thing I've seen to support this is that Vic mentioned they were screening a cut of the episode at Pixar's offices/theater on site. Where are you getting this "tidbit" ?

Can anyone tell me what is the ultimate goal for STC? Is it just to complete the 5-Year Mission, with 20-26 episodes per season (for 2 seasons), and then that's it? No movie era production afterwards? I figured that we can all enjoy the classic era of ST for a while longer, but I would hate to see VM and crew move on after the "mission" is won and done...
Realistically I don't see them completing an actual 50 odd episodes to make two seasons worth--not at the rate of releasing two or three episodes a year. At that rate they'd have to be doing this for twenty some years.
So far they've talked only about finishing off the 5-year mission. Within that framework they could simply keep making episodes untill they simply get tired of it and say something like these were the highpoints of the last two years.
Warped9 nails it. Vic has said publicly that he will reach a point where his apparent age will no longer be plausible, and that will be that. Even if he had a fountain of youth, (or they came up with an in-story reason for the aging), it isn't realistic to think we'll ever reach 50 episodes.

Don't get me wrong. I freakin' love what STC is doing and I look forward to more of their episodes. But realistically there's a limit to maintaining a sense of credibility when you're limited to releasing two or three episodes a year.
The success of fan productions and the viability of crowdsourcing along with the resources now available for non Hollywood studio type productions offers a lot of possibilities for now and the future.
Axanar is a good example. In some respects it's an extension of productions like Starship Exeter, Starship Farragut and numerous others: the possibility to see things that TPTB would most likely never seriously consider doing. For "official" studio productions DS9, VOY and ENT are the extent of them going off the beaten track and I seriously doubt they will ever do that again or at least for a very long time. So fan productions are it if fans want to explore things outside of TOS or TNG.
That said the possibilities are intriguing for what else could be done for science fiction beyond Trek. The barrier there is that selling an idea that isn't already familiar to people could be an enormous hurdle. For example I have a space adventure idea that I think could really be made to work, but I don't know if it could ever get made largely because it's an unfamilar idea as opposed to something that is already well known.

That would be a wise decision, indeed - and that date can´t be very far off...
Not much different from network television. You're enjoying a show, but you never really know if the network will pull the plug for some reason or other.
need I point out that if Continues goes for so long, Vic ages out of the role, they can recast the role, long gone are the days that to even discuss someone other than Shatner playing Kirk was the worst thing fans could ever do.
The Kirk rule gets recast less than the others, but its been done on New Voyages.
Lets face it we an actor playing Kirk whose biggest role prior was a bit part in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and a bit part in Six Feet Under. Continues can recast Kirk for a second time.
