I would have loved if V had been great! It would have built on IV's success and made TNG even more popular.

In an alternate universe, Paramount let Nimoy direct again, and it was a great movie.

As it is, it's a bad movie.
The director was not the problem.

It's a bad movie, if you've seen Star Trek before.

For those that have never seen any Star Trek before, its an enjoyable movie.

TFF was made more for them than the hardcore fans.

Actually, some of the best stuff in the movie is for the hardcore Star Trek fans. The scenes with Kirk, Spock and McCoy are all amazing for those that are big fans of TOS. Both camping scenes are amazing, and Spock's entire journey through this movie, is equally as important as his growth in TVH, after his resurrection. It all allowed him to become the Spock we see in TUC and TNG/ST09. Skip this movie, and going from TVH straight in TUC, Spock makes no sense. Now he does.

I think TFF is very underrated.

But then I think WoK is overrated, and two of the top three films are Beyond and Insurrection.

Agreed on WoK. Beyond is most likely in my top three as well. Not sure about Insurrection, but I also enjoy that one.

I used to like Insurrection but my favourites are now all different.

Beyond
Into Darkness
ST 2009
First Contact
Voyage Home

While I love FC it really doesn't feel at all like a movie if that makes sense, but just an extended TV episode with a bigger budget.

This does not refute what I said.
