Spoilers ST Picard - Starships and Technology Season Two Discussion

Hey, remember how there was this bright, shiny starship introduced in 2x01, and then they quickly moved all the action away from it before the end of the episode? We're sure to come back to the Stargazer (and that it will be a major player in the third and final season of the show), but until then here's a ridiculously good CG recreation of what we've seen so far:

Well, we're coming back to that set. It might not be the bridge of the same ship.

2x07

- So, uh... 2370s or early 2380s counselors uniform, I guess? Would it be a standard outfit, or a custom job like Deanna or Dr. Migleemo would wear on duty?

- Picard thought for a moment that he was in his ready room. So was that space he was in his ready room? Perhaps on the old Stargazer, or perhaps even the Verity? If it was the "therapist" office, why would he remove his combadge and place it in a fancy box? I understand that basically none of it is reliable, but the office had windows on two sides as well, suggesting a narrow space on the top or bottom of a structure; could be a space station, could be a starship.

Given that it has smooth rather than quilted shoulders it looks like something transitional between the First Contact–Nemesis uniforms (last seen in 2379) and the smooth-shouldered, more early DS9/VOY uniforms they wore in flashbacks during Picard's first season (set some time around 2387):

Of course we've also seen Starfleet fielding multiple designs of uniforms simultaneously. So, 2380s-ish uniform I'd say.

Ezri and Troi never had purple uniforms that we saw onscreen- not that it's impossible with how many new uniform variants there have been lately! I'm inclined to put all of it into a category of "dream logic". When people describe dreams they usually say things like: It was my house, but not really my house. Not quite any ready room Picard really had, not quite a real psychologist's uniform. There may even be symbolic value to the purple collar- it's a colour associated with royalty and plays into the concept of a King for the Queen. Also maybe something going on with Maurice's desk trinket that looked like a star: Fathers and Suns...

That's how Dave Blass described it:

A look into the Ready Room of #StarTrekPicard 207 “Monstes”. While not really a Ready Room that Picard had on a ship, it is a fractured state of mind, like a dream where you wake up in your house…that isn’t your house. The Splinter in the Minds Eye. The riom is decorated with pieces from Picard’s past, the coffee table from Janeway’s Ready Room. Some model ships he would have been building as a kid and other unique elements.

So,

the Vulcans in PIC S2e8 used transporters in Wells' flashback. According to ENT, Vulcans didn't have transporters until 2151. Continuity error, or a hint those Vulcans were also time-travellers?

Which episode are you referring to?

I got the info from the episode recap at TV Tropes, but checking Memory Alpha the ENT ep Daedalus has Emery Erickson as the inventor of transporter technology in 2121 (they may have misread this as 2151) and there are constant references in the show to it being a new technology. If Vulcans had it, then even if they were keeping it back from humanity for the same reasons as warp, T'Pol could still comment on the usages of it in eps where it went wonky.

Yeah, in the early seasons of Enterprise, I assumed transporters were the rare technology where humans were ahead of the curve, but eventually, we saw Klingons and Vulcans using them without comment, so that didn't actually seem to be the case.

Whatevs. I was bored, felt like discussing something, got it wrong. Bye then.
I wasn't trying to "get" you, I just wanted to know where the claim came from. Your original post asked it as a question, so the premise was investigated. Please don't feel attacked.

Ahh, I was just in a funk that day. With most folk still working from home I don't get much human interaction outside the internet, so I was keen to engage on something that in retrospect was bad intel. No biggie.
