So Klingons have ridges in nuTrek, Klingons are in STXII, but the Klingons in STXII might not have ridges?

We don't know of Klingons have ridges in the Abrams timeline, and won't until if/when we see one without a helmet.

Hmmm ... I was wondering if those were Klingons from the deleted Rura Penthe scenes from Trek 09, but that fellow isn't wearing a trench coat. It looks like he's got a brown vest with wide shoulders, a sash, and black fur-covered arms.

The helmet is curious. Maybe ridgeless Klingons wear them to hide their deformed, smooth features. Or maybe Abrams has concocted a new look and is keeping it a secret.

I'm going to wildly speculate that we've just caught our first glimpse of Kor.

Actually, it looks like that Klingon is wearing the same helmet/mask as the ones in the Trek XI deleted scenes. The forehead of that particular apparatus does indeed have ridges, but we have no indication if the actul Klingons themselves do.

Why wouldn't they have ridges. In the picture in the link I posted they Klingon looks like he is wearing a helmet that has ridges on it. Pretty logical to me that the helmet would be designed to fit over their ridges.

Or they wear them to cover the fact they don't have ridges. We really don't know anything yet.

Exactly. They could be stylized to look very "klingon". Makes more sense than a form-fitting helmet that hugs the ridges.
