Welcome to the 237th Trek BBS Fan Art Forum Challenge!

April’s theme, chosen by community vote here, is:

The Catwalk
What fashion can be found sashaying down the catwalks (runways for the Americans :)) of Cait, Fillandia (Ariolo), and Janus VI? Would a Xindi-Aquatic wear Tholian silk? And what would an Aurelian wear to pop to the shops?
Your task is to design an item of apparel, an outfit, costume or uniform (not necessarily Starfleet) for a non-humanoid Federation citizen or other denizen of the Star Trek Universe. Preferably being worn by said non-humanoid!

This month we're strutting our stuff where no fashionista has strutted before. Pick your favourite non-humanoid, reptilian, felinoid, avian, cetacean, piscine, silicon-based (etc...) species from Star Trek and show us their haute couture, casual wear, millinery, accessories, onesies or p.j.s. ;)

The Rules
  • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
  • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
  • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)
The winner gets to wear the golden “Fan Art Challenge Winner” badge on their profile for the following month. And , if you have an idea for a Challenge Theme you can post it in May's suggestion thread (here).

You have until Wednesday, 30 April to share your final entry here in this thread. As always, if you have any questions or if you need more time, use this thread to let us know. :)

Looking forward to seeing your art. Have fun! :bolian:

I don't have anything this month, how about you? Does anyone need more time?
sadly, i have nothing. i was initially confuzzled by the focus on nonhumanoids, but then also listing several species and groups of species that i would consider largely humanoid. but then i had a few ideas, but wasn't able to focus due to being distracted by other projects that i *also* didn't finish XD and several bouts of Bad Brain.

could give us a few more days to see if we can cough something up...

Despite having some grand ideas (or, at least, a vague idea or two) when I suggested this theme, they've all faded away now. Plus, this has been an extremely busy month for me leaving little time for sketching and the like, sadly. However, I may find time today to come up with something. Maybe. :D

I've had an inkling of an idea, or at least a thought on which species to go with, but I haven't had the chance to develop it.

I'll leave the contest open for now and see how things go if/when we start to get some entries. :bolian:

I've got nothing. :( The theme wasn't exactly in my wheelhouse either.

(Side note: I didn't get an alert at all from being tagged in Laura's post. Is that not working?)

I see no harm in leaving this contest open to run in parallel with May's Challenge.

A couple of years ago we had 1 or 2 summer challenges left open until the end of the year... although, that may not be something we want to repeat. ;)

"...Choblik—small herbivores with deerlike heads and ostrich-shaped bodies, modified with cybernetic enhancements that gave them full sentience, arms and grasping appendages, and other advantages their native forms lacked"
-DTI: Watching the Clock

Quote in image from this.
I thought that the choblik might hold ceremonies in honor of their origins, with volunteers temporarily removing as much of their cybernetics as they can bear in a show of humility. The ornamentation shown would be strictly ceremonial, being far too restricting and vulnerable for everyday wear. I imagine the rope is dyed in colours that are enhanced to the cybernetic eye- the point is to draw attention to the fragility of the neck, and maybe other vulnerable parts, i imagine ear piercings or dyeing the underbelly. The occasion serves to show respect to the great builders by exaggerating the defenseless state of the choblik without cybernetics.

Oop- i hotlinked that image from tumblr. I dont have the ability to edit posts yet, so i cant rectify this myself, but ive reuploaded the image to a site that allows hotlinking:

Very sorry for the spam

Nice! Welcome to the board @halima. :techman:

It's great to have an entry and that adds some impetus for me to find time to work on my idea. Any one else have anything brewing?

i want to do something with a Tholian but exactly what is not coming to mind
