Space Colonization Options (Orbiting Stations, planets/moons)

I do hope robots advance to where they can harvest methane on Titan and ship it back towards the inner solar system over deep time. Methalox demands Titan exploration.

i am suprised that we still do not have androids aka robots aka cyborgs like the ones from the sci fi tv shows and sci fi movies

That’s tough—Moravec’s Paradox and all.

Some speculation upon use of the Hungaria asteroids

For robotics

Microgravity set ups need robots to do science. Keep humans in wheel stations.

we do. Also, how on earth did that have anything to do with harvesting methane on Titan? Speaking of which how do you feel about the Sabers vs Canadiens tonight? Sabers will take the Stanley Cup and that's a fact. Speaking of which

well there are probley some alternate earths in the mutliverse where the sabers are taking the canadians on the moon

I was going to comment about the whole colony thing before I noticed a strikethrough on someone's name here..

..wtf

EDIT: To keep on topic, the whole "million strong colony" thing was a friggin lie from day one, so I guess his luck ran out and nobody believed the bullshit anymore.

One day, perhaps.

Space Station design is now being looked at from a more Trek-like, humanistic standpoint

I call ISS a space *platform* by the way...

Yes, so next step is YOU explaining to the rest of us WHY you call ISS a space platform, for discussion purposes.

Well, it is rather flat....and when we all think of space stations....well....we think of ring stations... that's what I call a station

Robots should be in the former, humans the latter.

Something breaks, and a repair crew is only a spacewalk--not a whole launch--away.

I just want lots of humans up there in shirtsleeve comfort to where they can just walk to the hub for zero gee.. spontaneity and immediacy.

So much of the time aboard ISS is eaten up with duties.

I seem to remember how even in this era of drones, U-2 pilots actually have more task loading now than during the Cold War.

In short, space stations have gravity, space platforms don't.

Fig leaves, I know.

If, say the barycenter of two co-orbiting bodies is within the diameter of the larger of the two objects...it is a planet with a big moon.

If the barycenter is closer to the mid-point, you call them binary worlds, or a double planet otherwise.

i still wonder

if the space missions to the moon kept going since the 1970s we probley colonies on the moon since the 1980s

along with colony style space stations in outer space also in the 1980s

then we probley have even had space missions to mars in the 1990s then colonies on mars since the 2000s

One of the things needed is to use water ice that is already in space.

Not the ARCA eco-rocket:

The heat from this combustion engine could make steam.... perhaps one tank of water could use different propulsion schemes.

They want an OTRAG design, and heat from the engine above could steam the water up, and perhaps pass by a water cooled reactor with steam given a Hall effect kick?

You might layer all this.

On spinning tanks

On its own, ECOROCKET might be best at Ceres so the exhaust can snow back down maybe?

This may play a role in space

Why exploration out there beyond Earth Orbit (BEO) matters "down here:"

An interesting development:

Well, Starship made it to orbit with a useful payload today:

Now, was the Flesh Gordon bent-look due to a fish-eye lens, or was someone getting cute 🥰
