^ Yep. A friend informed me about that.
It also reminded me of The Adjustment Bureau, another romantic sci-fi.
The ending is pretty happy, but are we supposed to be happy that Colter Stevens murdered Sean Fentress? It seems as though the man that was Sean Fentress no longer exists and Christina Warren who obviously had a pre-existing affection for Sean Fentress (she was hoping he'd ask for coffee for months) is now spending her time with someone that she doesn't realize is a stranger!
"Hi, I'm Sean Fentress, and I don't know my Social Security number, how to get to my house, or what my parents look like." Yeah, the fucked-upedness of the ending is that they don't even acknowledge it really. Personally, I'd have preferred they ended on that excellent "frozen in time" shot. I don't know why Jones didn't.
Anyway, I still really enjoyed it. Did you know that the working title of the film was "Donnie Darko Goes to War"?
Maybe it's not murder but it still feels damn creepy. I feel bad for Christina. She clearly had a pre-existing affection for Sean.It wasn't murder, fair enough. But they just glossed over it: that was the bothersome part.
I hate talking in spoiler tags!
