The "Frozen" moment seems to be something added in to the later drafts because the original script did not have it. In the original screenplay Colter and Christina disappear through the train station tunnel. They're not outside. I think the kiss was off the train as well.

I doubt there would be a sequel and if there was one Duncan most likely wouldn't return to direct it.

Honestly, I think the concept would lend itself to a tv series. Except for the fact that Quantum Leap got there first. If this does well, I'd be surprised if there was no sequel commissioned.

If there's a sequel it will be with a new cast and new director and I'll be passing on it. This wasn't meant to be a franchise.

Me as well. It's unfortunate he couldn't find funding to do "Mute" immediately but i'm looking forward to the graphic novel version of it and his next project which he's working on right now.

Yeah, it definitely helped wash the taste of Sucker Punch and Battle: LA out of my mouth.

Though I am really wondering why they marketed this movie the way they did. I really thought this looked almost remarkably stupid from the trailers and commercials. They seemed to make it look like a Matrix action movie and it was so much more than that.

After the movie, I turned to my girlfriend and told her that this was the best movie that no one will see this year.

Another disappointing weekend for "Source Code". Once more "Hop" won the weekend, pulling in 21 million bucks. "Source Code" is in 7th having made 9.05 million for a total of 28.6 in two weeks. Bishop76 you're right about this being one of the best movies no one will see this year. When is that different than any other time though lol? It's closing in on it's budget already and should surpass it next weekend. Sigh. The good news is that we could get the DVD earlier if this has a short run.

Source Code is gonna be one of those movies that benefits from the long tail, I'd expect.

But yeah, my viewing was extremely anemic. Maybe twenty people in the house. Hell, my ex-girlfriend didn't even come with me. Maybe I'll go see it again; SC was no Moon, but Goddamn do I owe Jones for Moon. You think we could get a hundred thousand people to send $100 to get Mute done?

Yeah, this is a movie that I wish would break even at least, and I think it stands a chance of that, but it probably won't. I'm hoping the foreign box office get a bit of a boost.

Again, I wish they had marketed this differently...

I liked it an awful lot as well. It may not have been quite asintense as it wanted to be, but I still found myself completely invested from beginning to end (I mean come on, Monaghan was so freakin sweet and adorable you couldn't HELP but want to see her live).

It was also a pleasant surprise not to see the movie end with another huge, ridiculous, overblown action climax (which is kind of the norm for action movies nowadays). I was really dreading something like that, but thankfully we didn't get it.

Well it could simply be that Jones didn't want the true ending leaked out. We've seen directors do that a lot in the past.

Personally, while I would have been perfectly fine with the "frozen" ending, I thought the final one worked really well too. It didn't strike me as overly sappy or incongruent with the rest of the movie at all. And somehow it just felt right that Colter's faith would be validated in the very end after all. It's the rare happy ending that actually seems to work.

I actually kind of interpreted the film as having both endings happen in different realities or timelines or whatever you want to call it.

Though I am one of the people who wishes they would have ended the film on the frozen moment because that was just absolutely beautifully directed and a beautiful moment.

Mine was packed. This was the first time I saw someone from the cinema staff come in and ask everyone already seated to scoot in to accommodate all the people looking for seats.

Really liked this.

Could someone explain to a poor Brit what that monument at the end is? I've never seen it before, and whilst I get the symbolism of the reflections in it, I'm curious to what it actually is.
